I too agree that it appears in the main that the council etc and all vol's do a good job. However they do seem to keep reiterating that point and say that any help from other vol's would be appreciated, but they do not seem to take it up I myself in a reply to such a post on this forum offered my assistance with the long awaited National day, but no take up of this offer was made. Which brings me to the National ok we now have a date and location but that is all, why not publish some other details of it on here, as Action now seems to be past its due date, and clearly is not the best method of communicating with the members.

Lets have some action if not the Action.

   Cheers  Gary

2 months no action,  no Action magazine, no action from the council. Perhaps someone could enlighten us paying members! I know those running the club are volunteers but it does not take much time to update us members on here as there is no Action (the so called preferred method of communications for club members).

   Hey ho

Also what is happening to the National or is that also going to go missing?

Hi all

Well at last engine and box now out. Came out nice and easy with the nose off. Came out complete. Big ol lump when you you see on the floor.

Now to clean engine bay down and some painting in there as well. Tidy up some wiring so it runs down the bottom of the inner wing out of harms way.

Gearbox now split off and will be for sale shortly ,so if you want one complete with all parts for fitting inc pedal/lever etc, then I am after approx £280 to £300 ish. I can deliver upto about 50 miles for cost of fuel which will be about £25 as it will be in a  V8 landrover.

Heres a link to pics of removal.

At last the Triumph engine is back from the engineers, all bored, balanced and ready to build. Will start this weekend. Waiting for the head as being converted to unleaded and a little gas flowing.

Got nose cone off the Ol girl and the rad out, gearbox tunnel off, prop off, all bolts undone for engine removal, so hope to get it out in the next week, but its bloody cold in garage even with my gas heater.

   Cheers

Oh and did anyone see readers cherished cars in Classic and Sports Car mag this month, thought I get the old 2 litre a bit of coverage especially as they have been covering so many other AC's recently.

Well the spares are flying away, the gearbox is off to Santa Rosa, the Starter to California (both ruddy heavy) and the SU's to Suffolk.

All gone to enthusiasts restoring/rebuilding their cars.

Now have one more Moss gearbox (soon to be out of car), a full Moss bell housing and clutch release mechanism, Dynamo for 2 litre (on Ebay), a 2 litre distributor rebuilt approx 4000 miles ago, comes fitted with electronic ignition (also will include the original points and bits for the purist) and matching coil (make me a sensible offer before it goes on Ebay).

There will be other bits as I proceed.

   Cheers Gary

I have listed the dynamo/generator and the starter on Ebay. If you are a member and want to deal direct price would be cheaper to you.

   Please only sensible offers.

I will list other parts as I take them off.

I may sell engine, but it will need new liners/pistons. You may even consider a replacement water jacket. However it has an excellent bottom end.
I may strip and split engine for parts if required.

   Cheers  Gary

I to use the hose method and just listen, you just have to ensure you put the hose in the carb mouth the same distance. you soon learn to hear the difference. I use this on all sorts of carb set ups, su, Solex, Webbers etc.
My dad taught me, long before all these meters.

Hi  I have been asked the ratios for this box they are as follows

   1st 3.37 2nd 1.98 3rd 1.36 top 1.1 R 3.37.

The only number on the gearbox are AC231 stamped on the top selector cover and 80261 OY cast into the side of the gearbox (I assume the casting number)

The ratio are exactly the same as the Ace and Aceca using the Moss gearbox.

If you multiply the ratios by the diff ratios you can check them against your spec sheet.

   Cheers all.
