Thanks Graham. Will search and see if anything pops up. Since the heater was optional, I don't believe there were ever any internal controls to open or close the heater valve, thus the 'Manual' opening valve one my car. Hopefully someone else out there has an early  AC-engined Ace (not Aceca) with the heater!

I'm looking for anyone who has an Ace with the AC engine, who also has the optional heater. I want to know if the heater output/control from the thermostat housing I have is the standard configuration. Attaching a picture of the arrangement on AEX127. Thanks for any help!

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Engine thermostat housing?
« on: June 03, 2020, 03:30:07 »
Is there any source for replacement thermostat housings for the AC engine? Mine has a chunk of the inside ‘lip” where the thermostat sits missing. I am assuming this let coolant past the thermostat which is why my engine always runs cool. The thermostat itself seems to be working fine.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Ace thermostat question
« on: June 01, 2020, 01:23:49 »
My Ace has always run cool, so I assume the thermostat is stuck open. Since I have my radiator out now, going to check the thermostat also. See the attached (I hope) picture, does this look like the correct thermostat? How do I remove it to check it? I don't want to just start prying on it and damage anything, so looking for advice!

Well, after many contortions and scraped knuckles, and making a special tool to reach the bolt, I have managed to get the radiator out of the Ace. Taking it to specialist tomorrow to get the leak fixed (I believe it's the header tank that is leaking). I will also be addressing the inaccessible bolt-head issue upon reinstallation!

I agree James. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Once the rad is out, maybe I can come up with a better long-term solution!

After a spirited drive yesterday in AEX127, upon return to the garage and parking, I noticed the radiator leaking from somewhere near the top. I drained the radiator in prep for removal and repair, and have removed the nuts from the lower core support, but there seems to be no way to get the upper core support bolts out. The problem is there’s no way to get a wrench  on the head of the bolts to keep it from turning due to the flange on the bracket that faces forward and the tight fitting shielding while I remove the nut from inside the engine bay. Anybody done this before and have any suggestions? I can supply pictures if it helps.

Turns out this is BEX664. I got pictures of the underside, even scarier than the top and interior. Probably too far gone to justify a restoration, especially with the incorrect engine and transmission.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Bristol (wrong engine) on eBay
« on: February 16, 2020, 14:36:36 »
If anyone has a spare Bristol engine sitting around, there is an Aceca Bristol on eBay right now with some V-8, that is in need of everything:

Looks like no data plate present, so no idea what the actual car number may be. Anyone in the area who could check it out???

What ever happened with this initiative? I would like an original tool roll/bag for my Ace, and know of several others looking for one. Is it possible to air least get the dimensions and pictures of an original bag so they can be reproduced.
