Bid up to $2500 already...way more than I'd shell out. Prices on B.A.T. have been crazy lately!

They could at least have cleaned it up, many of the comments on web site are clearly wrong, if it was a good running engine it would be worth an owner of an Ace to pick it up for a sensible price!

Robin (or anyone else) - any idea what a 'sensible' price would be?

An Ace engine has appeared on Bring A Trailer. Not a lot of info supplied, and looks a bit rough.

Just be prepared to wait on Autosparks, I have 2 looms on order from back in September and no ETA yet...

Due to the government shutdown in France, the auction has been postponed,  no new date announced yet!

I agree Keith. If I had the wherewithal and could buy the car, I would keep it as-is and enjoy the heck out of driving it!

Will be very curious to see what it brings!

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Thermostat probe
« on: June 29, 2020, 19:50:39 »
Does it make any difference how far the thermostat probe bulb goes into the channel in the thermostat housing? See the attached picture. I’m assuming any depth will be fine as the water will encompass the probe no matter how shallow or deep the insertion. Anyone actually know?

Lovely car, I can’t add more than that!

Thanks Keith, I will give everything a try! I may have to cut the housing in half and get it out that way. I'm running out of options and want to get back on the road!

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC thermostat bulb and capillary
« on: June 13, 2020, 00:40:06 »
I have been unable to get the bulb and capillary thermostat probe removed from my Thermostat housing. Two questions:

1. I've been told it is just a press fit, is this truly the case? I am unable to press it out even after soaking in penetration oil, heating the housing, etc.

2. Are replacements available? If so I can just get a new one for my new housing which is on its way.

Hopefully someone can give me answers! Not much luck on getting replies on this forum aa of late.

Tom, just sent you a PM.

Interesting. The hose coming off the valve in the picture attaches to a copper pipe that runs along the head to the heater, and connects thru a short hose to the heater input which protrudes thru the firewall. There is no plumbing inside the cockpit, so no place to put a control in easy reach. I believe my setup is original to the car, but until someone else can show me what they have, can't be sure!
