A footnote to last reply. If you have'nt removed door trims before, the poppers are best removed with a large flat screwdriver, one at a time.Insert between trim and door and twist. They can be sods.

Hi Clifford!
Congrats on car, looks much better than some of the descriptions i'd heard.
I brought a coupe a couple of years ago that had been standing idle for a number of years (about 10 I think)and had to go through some problems similar to yours.
I took out both tanks and had them cleaned because flakes of rust were making their way to the fuel pump and getting stuck in the one way valves which meant no petrol to the engine.
I also installed a filter between the tanks and pump.  Even though the tanks had been cleaned the filter still became clogged with rust flakes, so for a stander this is probably worth while and much easier to change than the pump.
On the door trims, after the handles have been removed, there should be one screw, then it is poppers all the way around.  Once these are released you lift the whole panel upwards to unhook it at the top.
On another note it is worth getting the radiator checked out, as mine was silted up and they need no encouragement to overheat!
   Best of luck.
   Dave.

Hand books are available from Brian Gilbart-Smith,The Coach House,Waltham St Lawrence,RG10 OHE,and they have a wiring diagram, although I don't pretend to understand it.They're priced at £15.00 but that includes p&p and guessing it does'nt include to Oz.  If you need to see pictures of engine bay go to the Pietro Frua website and theres lots of pictures.  If you click on one it will bring up loads more.  There are plenty of engine bays on these.  Concerning any measurements you need for radiator mountings e-mail me what you need and i can measure it from my car.

Dear Roy
The only problem I've had with mine is trying to keep the engine temp down.It chucks out loads of heat so,if you get a coupe,
make sure the electric windows work or carry your dinner with you and have it cooked when you get home.

428 Frua Forum / ignition coil
« on: October 30, 2016, 08:55:35 »
Hi guys
Does anyone know a good replacement ignition coil? Mine is suspect and the sticker for make and model is long gone, all I have is a number on the bottom of the casing, which is 0489.
Also, it seems to have a ballast resistor in the circuit so assuming it's a 6 volt one. Does anyone know if that's correct.

       thanks Dave

Hi guys
Car went for it's MOT and the inspector picked up on some very uneven wear on the fronts.
I've had a quick google looking for cobra mk111 settings and didn't come up with anything. Does anyone know what they should be or where the info might be.
   Thanks in advance Dave

428 Frua Forum / engine overhaul
« on: April 10, 2013, 21:10:48 »
Hi Guys
Getting the heads converted to run on unleaded, probably at the end of summer and while they're off I was going to replace the exhaust manifolds to stainless steel ones. Any idea on what would be the best ones to go for?
Is it also worth changing the inlet manifold and carb, aswell? Got an Autolite on there at the moment and have heard they're not the greatest.
           Any advice would be appreciated.

428 Frua Forum / seat belts
« on: August 16, 2012, 11:48:17 »
Hi Guys
Getting the interior sorted out this winter and, while I'm at it, I want to change the seat belts to inertia reel (god those statics get on my nerves). Does any one know if they were ever fitted as standard, if they were, what sort and, if not, has any one done this and what type did they go for?
Also having a bit of trouble with the window switches. Trawled the interweb and the only ones similar seem to be american but couldn't find dimensions and tricky to tell if they'd fit from a picture. Again has any one had the same problem and have any good suggestions?
                    Thanks Dave

428 Frua Forum / Frua sills
« on: October 05, 2008, 19:57:07 »
Hi all
The sills need to be replaced on the 428 and it's proving difficult to find anyone in my area willing to fabricate any.Does anyone know if there are any replacements available, unlikely I know,or are they really hard to recreate?
Maybe everyone I've spoken to is really busy and they don't need the work.

           Thanks in anticipation
                      Dave

I have to get my 428 valued for insurance purposes.Does the club do valuations and if so could it be done with photos or does it have to be physically looked at.If it has to be looked at where would it have to go,bearing in mind it only does ten to the gallon,so I might have to sell it to be able to afford to get there.
