steering rack conversion ACE ACECA
« on: August 17, 2020, 12:31:38 »
Hello everybody.
I read a lot about Ben Yates rack and pinion conversion.
I can't find any contact info either on the forum or on internet.
Can someone please give me his contact details.
Or advise any other "good" conversion.

Today in the garage we have an Aceca from a customer with a rack already fitted. The car came from USA.
It's atrocious, too direct, very hard to turn the steering wheel.
We also have our personnal ACE still with steering box. We are not really planning to change this.

Advises welcome. Thanks in advance. James

Ben Yates contact is ' kinnertoncourt@icloud.com  '
I would be very interested in the rack conversion you have on the Aceca as i am fitting one to an Ace Replica at the moment, This is from Ben Yates & i understand it is very similar to the original rack & pinion fitted to the original Ace, i am not aware of any issues in the use of these conversions on AC Ace & Aceca's!Would be helpful to know if it is a unit from Ben!
Be worth investigating the origin of the rack you have on the Aceca?
It is important to design the rack to avoid bump steer so the rack end joints are positioned correctly relative to the wish bone inner pivot points!
I am sure Ben can advise you in the matter.

Thanks for the mail, just wrote to him.
I don't know for now, but I can tell you one thing, the one on the car I have in the garage is 100% useless.
The car is really disagreable to drive.
