Brake Mastervac for MKIV NEED Help
« on: March 22, 2021, 17:18:13 »
Dear all,
I have an MKIV 1989 (AK1317).
I just realised that there is a brake liquid leakage between the airvac and the master cylinder of my Brake mastervac.

There are quite few references on the system body : ABCDEGHJKLMN  8  and   74660862   as well as a reference that looks like Q1370?

I have attached some pictures of the system.
Does anyone know what brand and reference it is ?

I would think it is a Ford part but not absolutely certain and maybe an ATE model but I cannot find these references.

Many thanks in advance for you help.
Best Regards

Laurent

I think it's a Girling part from a Ford Granada MK I 1972-1976, but I am not sure.

Noticed post on the Cobra forum regarding a master cylinder with the same markings. See:
http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43512

Its off a Sierra Cosworth, but you need to read the whole thread. It can well be the same item as the Granada mentioned in
the previous post, but I've looked at a picture of one from a '78-'81and that has three brake pipe conections, the earlier model only
appears to have two connections. Compare pics for '72-76 and '78-'81

Hope this helps /Paho

Here is the original Ford part number. I found a NOS master cylinder after a long search on ebay UK.

I had the same issue - got a kit from www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk and rebuilt the master cylinder. Cost £18. Works great.

This info relates to the Master Cyl. fitted to 1260 and 1271.

Lucas/Girling Part No. 74066315
Ford Part No. 6118138

It has a 7/8" or 22mm bore with 3 outlets
The No. 74660862 is the casting No. on the side of the body
This Master Cyl. is fitted to various Ford Sierra models from 1982 to 1986

The Lucas/Girling service kit No. is SP 7704

I have a spare of both the above if anybody is interested
