Aceca AC engined linkage
« on: April 29, 2020, 13:59:32 »
Hi

Looking for the throttle linkage and pedestals linking pedal to the SU carbs on the AC engine on my aceca as I look to transplant an AC engine back in. Any ideas or failing that dimensions and drawings would help. Are the linkages same as AC 2 litre?  Or even if I can borrow one with a pedestal to copy.

Fingers crossed
Nige

Simply Bearings have some miniature pillow block bearings with two bolt fixing , the 10mm shaft size is just over £8 each, they are proper ball race type, if you go on the web you will find quite a few miniature pillar block bearings to suit, saves making them & not a bad cost with a better free running shaft.

Thanks Robin

A very practical solution, looking to try and stay authentic (or as close as possible) at this time hence request for info.

But yes as a last resort that would work. Website seems pretty comprehensive.

Nigel

David  Whitehouse had some triangular accelerator support posts cast, and could well have spare linkage for SU carurettors.
Give him a call on 07836 725650  ( Stourbridge -  West Midlands )

I believe the A.C. engined throttle shaft ran closer to the bulkhead than the Bristol variant. I had found this out when researching a small mysterious blank very neatly rivet to the top surface of my foot box. Presumably the bodies came with both apertures already made and the unused one was blanked off.

See picture attached shows my Bristol throttle shaft and the blank.

Apologies if you already knew this!

.

Nigel

The  Cast Ali  throttle cross tube  triangular Support  posts on your AC Aceca ( and Ace)  LHD & RHD are the same as those used on the 2 litre saloon. and are
also used on the Bristol engine Ace & Aceca LHD & RHD.

As stated in earlier post David Whitehouse had some cast, just leaves you to make up cross shaft and linkage to the SU carbs, which I believe David Whitehouse could well have the parts you require,

Re: James observation.
Irrespective of location close to or further away from the bulkhead,    Ali foot box in Ace or Glass fibre in the Aceca,  the support posts appear the identical.

Obviously the linkage varies LHD to RHD and AC or Bristol engine.
