Took a day off from Jag metal bashing and finally got around to making a Cobra rear hub puller.

This device picks up on the upper leafspring pin and the lower wishbone pin locations on the rear hub upright, and will take a Sykes-Pickavant 12-ton hydraulic press to push the rear hub shaft out of its bearings in the upright.  Should save me having to cut off the disc to access the bearing housing, like I did last time...

I managed to complete the first 50 miles of running in today. Quite pleased that I didn’t have to call for help and got back home intacked . An oil and filter change now along with torquing down the head and setting the valve clearance.
I might be rough but I’m slow as well.

A car is only original once, but, you can modify it as many times as you like.

Here,s a pic of the Ol' Girl with her current garage (well tent) partner.

It's a 97 Chevy Astro AWD, LSD. Tin top, I have fitted a S10 throttle body with  throttle body spacer, K&N air filter, EGR disabled. Now should be good for 220bhp and 250 ft lb torque. 0-60 sub 11 sec not bad for a 2000kg tank. And  at  20mpg just.

1930 Ford.
Our grandchildren working on my father’s favorite old car. My father died in 2003. We sold all the Model A cars, trucks, and parts except we kept this car he loved.  It last operated in 2009 until we got it out for a project during the shutdown.

Grandpa, it runs but you put too much coolant in the radiator.

Back in a condition it can be driven a little.

Had some 'fun' today. We replaced the 1930s made tires with new made ones yesterday. As we prepared to go test driving today fuel was pouring out of the carburetor. The float turned out to be about half full of fuel. I got a float out of a spare carburetor and off we went.  We even gave some neighborhood friends rides with their grandchildren today.

Good Evening All,

I have now almost completed the mechanical work on 'Uncle Alfred' and he is nearly ready for the road.  The attached was picture taken before indicators were added, a safety feature needed as people do not seem to understand hand signals these days.

The last thing done was a conversion from the Solex to an SU which I have just finished.  The SU was fitted (badly) to the car when we bought it and the original Solex was put in place as a temporary measure (30+ years ago!) and I prefer the SU as it is adjustable.

The only mechanical job left is adjusting the tracking, does anyone have a figure for toe in on an AC Royal?

Next is the re-upholstery if I can get the materials during Lockdown2?

All the best,
Tom
