Roof hydraulic rams
« on: December 31, 2022, 12:30:08 »
Hi everyone, Seasons Greetings !

Does anyone know of a source for the roof hydraulic rams? Or at least what other cars they were used on?
I have identified a small leak on one of mine, may just be the joint, I have not investigated fur5er yet to see, but would be handy to know where to look for replacements if needed.

Many thanks,
Nev

Nev,

Happy New Year,

My assumption would be the rams come from the Peugeot 306 cabriolet, same as the pump, but can't be 100% sure as haven't compared them.
I can find pumps for sale on Ebay but I can't find any rams listed for visual comparison with those used on the Ace.

As for as I recollect the rams are not the same. The pump is the same except that the Ace has a 12 pipe manifold, the Peugeot 306 has 6 pipes. See for peugeot examples https://roofmotors.co.uk/ and http://www.peugeotlogic.com. Note that the Ace's rams have sensors embeded to indicate the state of the ram (closed or extended). Can't promise but I'll see what info I can find when I get home next week.

Thanks for the info so far,  hopefully we can confirm.
I only know of one place that will service these rams, and they are on the West Coast of the USA, so not so convenient...... is there anywhere in the UK ?

Hi Nev,
I have looked at the info I have collected and I have not been able to identify who made the hydraulic rams more than the manufacture's name plate "Detec GmbH" who are no longer trading. I needed a hydraulic pipe repaired here when the steering pump pipe burst, and was advised to search for a hydraulic service workshop that did farm and transport vehicles. Found one that fixed the pipe while I waited.

I suggest you search using "hydraulic service center uk". When I did a search a number of companies based in different parts of UK were listed who do repairs.
Good luck /Paho

I haven't used this company but have heard good reports about them, may be worth a phone call, if they can't help they may be able to advise.
