Replacement Battery
« on: March 23, 2008, 20:35:49 »
The battery in my Mark IV has given up the ghost in the winter weather.  Does anyone have any recommendations for a good replacement?

You might wish to consider an alternative battery by Hawker which is the 'Odyssey' range which are available in USA & UK, i use these on my Massey Ferguson tractor as well as modern cars, they have a very high cranking ampere rate & do stand long storage & multiple deep discharging offering significant life.
Odeyssey PC925 is £106 +vat in UK & i believe lower in USA, the PC1200 is £123 +vat the number equating to the cranking amps for 5-seconds.
look on web site ' www.active-robots.com ' in UK & there will be an equivalent one in USA, this site gives the specifications & dimensions.
I will not buy ordiary batteries ever again.

And; definitely invest in an 'Accumate' charger; these will whack your battery round to 13v even if really low, well worth the money.

Best Battery charger to suit the Odyssey bateries is CTEK XS3600 @ £48 +vat or CTEK XS7000 @ £84 +vat & can be supplied by Active-Robots also!
Very versitile to use & will do maintenance duty in the winter months.

Hi Fans
The most important thing to remember, there is no such thing as a "Maintenance Free Battery" unless it is gel filled. It is worth devising a method of checking the electrolyte level even despite the difficulty on a MKIV CRS. Over the years (50) I have found all batteries need routine maintenance.
