Bristol engine rod bearings
« on: September 12, 2006, 17:41:14 »
I have a problem with rod bearings for the engine in my AC Bristol (BEX 277).  It seems that when the engine was rebuilt, around 1990, they used a bearing that required the crank to be cut only .009 instead of the standard .010.  I may be able to use the bearings again but if not, I'll have to have the crank removed and cut .010 or .020 under which is something I'd prefer not to do.  Does anyone know what bearing could have been used when the engine was rebuilt and (even harder) if a set is available anywhere?

Also, I know that people are currently using a cut down Alfa Romeo rod bearing.  The number on a box I have is AEB 203, Federal-Mogul aftermarket Italy.  Does anyone know which Alfa these were originally for?
