Ace starter

Looks like the starter on AEX127 is on it's last leg. So my question is, is there an easy replacement item (AH/Jag/MG/etc.) that can just swap in, or will I need to get mine rebuilt?

I would speak to Tony Byford as he has a unit adapted from a modern car ( i think a toyota ) which is smaller , far lighter and more powerful.
I am not 100% certain of price but I seem to remember £100 .

I use a WOSP starter, not sure if they do one for the AC motor. A Google search should tell.

Ah, just had a quick look on the WOSP website. They don't do one, they do one for the Bristol and the Ford engines, but not the AC.
There are several companies the have these high torque (and sometimes gear reduction) modern starters for classics. Worth a look.

The AC engine starter is the same as the one fitted to some series 1 Land Rovers.
