Clutch and pressure plate, aceca

While I'm in the groove of posting.
   I'd like to replace the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing of my 59 Aceca. Can anybody help me with parts. Who sells them? I did not have any luck with the original part numbers as published in my Aceca reproduction manual.

Hi Gus
   
   Most of us in the UK who use our Ace Bristols in competition,  up grade the old 8" Borg & Beck  BB8/81 Clutch to a 8.5" Diaphram unit with a 8.5" Competition friction plate.  Not sure of exact part numbers but believe they are from MG "B".
   
   For accurate information, regards part nos and modification to maintain correct throw of clutch, Please refer to my engine builder.... Tony Byford who specialises in Bristol & BMW engines. (especially for competitive use and fast road use.)

   He can supply all parts if you have difficulty getting items in USA, please note as items are stock / standard MG you should have no problem securing them in USA.
   
   Are you running std flywheel / Lightened unit ( less 4lbs max ) or lightwieght ali unit ?? If you need Ali unit Tony can supply.

   For information on Upgrading clutch on AC engine please contact John Arnold ACOC AC Ace registrar. His AC engined Ace is ultra competitive and highly modified, he can comfirm correct part numbers and modifications.   e mail     john@real.uk.com

Good evening,

In view of possibly replacing preventively the clutch on my Ace Bristol, I hope it is fine to bring this relatively dated topic back to the top to discuss clutch set ups and also lightweight flywheels.
While I like the idea of replacing the original flywheel with a lightened unit, I do not find the Bristol gearbox particularly quick to operate, particularly when double-declutching, and I am not exactly sure if fitting a lightweight flywheel would make changing the gears down any more enjoyable and/or efficient.

Any input from the folks in the know about this?
