Spare Wheel

In the Mk IV manual I notice it says that you shouldn't exceed 50 mph on the spare wheel and not to use if for too long.  Does anyone know why the restriction?  Was the spare wheel rim inferior in some way?

Rick, you will find that it is sized to the front tires only, the rears were different size. A mismatched set of rears can destroy a Hydra Trac or any other differential quickly, especially at high speed. Makes the rear handle a lttle odd when you are pushing the car in a turn.
