My all-time hero, Dan Gurney, sadly died on Sunday 14th Jan at the age of 86.  Yes, he raced Cobras, but I worshipped the beautiful Eagle-Weslake of '67.

 :( :'(
he was one of my heroes too, racing Lotuses (sports, formula and Indy), Cobras (289 & Daytona CoupĂ©), GT40's and derivatives, Eagles ...... and a whole list of other famous makes  and had the luck to survive the cruel '60ies and '70ies motor sport years!

A great driver and a great man.

The third picture shows Dan with codriver Bob Bondurant and the Cobra Daytona Coupé chassis CSX2299 they raced at Le Mans 24 hours on June 20-21, 1964, finishing an excellent 4th place overall and winning the GT class.
