3000me wishbone bushes
« on: August 02, 2017, 16:44:32 »
Hi,
looking for advice on obtaining wishbone bushings either origin or replacements. Have tried polybush but they don't have anything suitable in their range. This is for chassis off resto on chassis 171. Got almost all other wearing parts new but these bushes are proving to be illusive. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Two new bushes came with car, only need another 14!

Brian has none, I went to see him a couple of weeks ago, his stock of ME parts has dwindled I'm afraid.

I called on the Rally Design stand at the NEC recently. They claimed to have poly bushes for the 3000ME. Try andy@rallydesign telephone 01227 792792.

Have fully dimensioned wishbone drawings. If you need copies please e-mail me.

Hi, many thanks for advice. obtained a full set poly type from Mark and exchanged some interesting pics on our respective cars. Thanks also for info on wishbones, I'll weigh things up once I get them blasted.

Hello Mark & Gerry,
Interested to know how the 3000ME performs with poly bushes, as the engineering appears to be somewhat different. On the originals, there is a metal sleeve around the bush, and both the inner and outer sleeves are bonded to the rubber. The polybush has no outer bush, and no bonding. This could result in more radial give, and much less longitudinal constraint, than with the original bush. This could affect wheel alignment.

On the 3000ME the car's handling is heavily influenced by rear wheel alignment. Have you noticed any changes?

Best wishes for 2018

John
