YPC8 article in Aug Action
« on: September 04, 2017, 09:23:16 »
I've just read the short piece on YPC8's '56 Monte antics.
I have, for years, been trying to find information regarding WPG7, another Aceca that ran as a member of the works entered team of three. I have tracked down as many results sheets as possible relating to its competiton history.
The article in the Aug Action states that YPC8 ".. finished but down the order"
As far as I have been able to ascertain from numerous reports and lists of finishers, WPG7 finished in 57th position overall, with no other members of the AC team finally classified.
Either I've got it wrong or the authors of the Article are in error.
Can anyone not connected with these 2 cars shed any further light on the subject.
Records should be straightened wherever possible.
I was going to put a response in ACtion, but it would be too long winded, so here it is on our forum. If light is shed via the forum, I'll then place a response in ACtion.

I spoke to Tony Bancroft. He told me that:

AE 499 (2nd Aceca built) YPC 8, driven by P Garnier/P Easton retired from the 1956 Monte with suspension problems.

AE 512 WPG 7, driven by T Clarke/R Baker finished 57th overall and 6th in class. A good effort.

Tim, Thanks for that. I'm glad I got it correct.
