Wiper motor help please
« on: May 28, 2017, 16:17:22 »
Anyone got a clue what the wiper motor is?

From what little remains of the code it seems to be Citroen but I can't track down any with the 37 middle number

   The code seems to be 535 37 4(?) ? 2

Nearest I could find was MFD200B 53537702 from a Citroen BX, see
http://en.bildelsbasen.se/se-sv/OEM/53537702/ . Is it the motor or the drive mechanism that's faulty? The motor looks the same for Valeo/Marchal wiper motors with the MFD200B code. It turns up on Renault, Peugeot and Citroen vehicles, the difference I guess is the drive mechanisms, so there is no guarantee that the drive part would be a suitable replacement.

Thanks Paho

Its the drive mechanism, the motor is OK.
The problem I've got is the parking of the wipers doesn't work nor any of the  intermittent speeds. I have normal & fast only.
I have no idea if any of the other cars have intermittent capability but the Ford wiper switch has.

The long number seems to be the batch number and it would seem that it was unique to AC for these motors.

My Ace has the intermittent wiper function. Have you checked relay R2 and/or the wiper switch?

Have you opened the mechanism? There should be a striker on the main cog & a microswitch that it hits to park, could be a simple fix?

I was a bit confused until I realised that the fuse/relay box is upside down. Relay 92GG 17C499 BA.

Now I need to get one to try out (hope this is the issue)

Main fuse box and relays are from Ford Scorpio mk2, so is the wiper switch; should'nt be too hard to find from a scrapyard in UK. I had one hit from a Swedish scrapyard. If you hav'nt already done so I would look at nikbj68 suggestion first before spending money on a relay or new wiper switch.

Cleaned it all, but nothing seems amiss on the face of it.

Yep, slightly different to one I recall on a BX, but as long as contacts and wheel are as good as they look, it's more likely the relay, switch or possibly connections/wiring. Fingers crossed for the relay!

RESULT!

Thank you to paho & nikbj68

After replacing the motor (from Lithuania) it still didn't work. However the new relay arrived today from Germany and everything is now working fine:)

For those interested the motor details are:
WINDOW WIPER MOTOR CITROEN BX PEUGEOT 205 / 309 VALEO 579082
   95494828, 640541, 6405-41, 53537702, 95494828, 99.0276, FRONT,

A number of the motors are interchangeable as per the above codes
