Alternator
« on: November 14, 2016, 17:07:40 »
Hi
The alternator of my 1985 AK1103 stop working
it seems it was replaced with a Chevrolet Astrovan alternator
Does anybody have a suggestion for a SPARE alternator easy to find in Europe?
   Thanks
   Paolo

I recently replaced my alternator in my Mk. IV at a local shop with a brand new Ford unit. I looked at my invoice for the part number, though it was a little difficult to read.

It is a Ford 100 amp alternator , part number 7749N-1

I hope this helps. I am in the U.S. thus not sure if this part is available in Europe. It works great in my car. Best wishes.

My alternator was replaced by an BOSCH unit with internal regulator years before i bought the car.

Maybe it needs some additional shimming with the original bracket i don't remember. For sure you have to modify the wiring if you are using such a alternator for replacement.

Actually i cleaned the engine completely and all 1985 Mustang equipment was banned from the engine bay.

I will check the BOSCH number till the weekend und post it here.

If you really looking for a original replacement check for 1985 302 Fox Body Mustang spare parts.

Any US car shop should know what part is needed.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!
