AC door handle
« on: June 25, 2015, 12:41:58 »
Hello all,

I am looking for a Greyhound pasenger door release handle.

I think these are the same as the Ace and Aceca also.

Would anyone have one or know where (long shot I know) I may be able to get one from?

   Kind regards
   Trevor

Is that the inside or outer handle? I haven`t figured out the origin of the interior handle yet, but believe the outer handles are Austin Farina. Certainly not the same as Ace, not certain about Aceca.
Do you have any photos or other info on your car?
The current register only shows 2 `Hounds in Australia, 1 AC-engined, the other Bristol, and a V8 engine car in NZ.
   Cheers, Nik.

The exterior door handles on the Aceca are the same as Rover P4. Maybe they are the same on the Greyhound. It might be worth comparing the interior handles also.

Repro exterior handles are available from various sources.

   Regards Luke.

These door handles are great. The original in the front and the repro in the back are nearly identical.

The only difference I can see is the stamped serial number inside the handle.

It's the interior passenger side door release handle I need.

I'll try and dig out the drivers side one and get a picture up.

   Kind Regards
   Trevor

   Trevor

   Scanning through  ACtion magazine May 1977  (Vol 1  # 1 ) page 9.
and found  the following useful data:-

Greyhound Door locks etc.  by Barrie Bird..

External Handle LH  ( RH )
   British Leyland #  ADB3751.  ( ADB 3750 )
   other vehicles: BMC Farina, Riley 1 1/2 litre,  Wolsley 1500 & 3litre.
   Wilmot Breedon #.  1'7667'7  ( 1'7668'7)

   Door Lock  LH  &  (RH)
   Brit Leyland #   24B / 3274   ( 24B  3273 )
   Wilmot Breeden #  310487-9    ( 310486-8-90-2)

Boot Lid Handle & Lock.  LH  &  (RH) .
   Brit Leyland No longer listed.
   Other vehicles:  Rover 60, 75, 80, 90, 100,105 & 110.
Reliant Robin Van  & AC Aceca.
   Wilmot Breeden  #  1 /4393

   Door Stop Anchor Plates..
Wilmot Breeden  LH  M774/7  (RH  M7737/7)

Door Striker Plates are best obtained from a BMC Farina tinmobile at a breakers or club. these are later type in sintered Iron ( greyhound originally had light alloy which wear out pretty fast )
If you take the plates from rear doors they should nearly new.

Hopefully the above is helpful to some of you Greyhound Owners.
Big thank you to Barrie Bird..[;)]

   Keith.
