Windscreen post chrome finishers
« on: June 06, 2015, 20:21:16 »
Does anyone know if all early Aces (mine is AEX217) came with the slotted chrome finishing plates that the windscreen posts go thru to the body? My car just has rubber gaskets there, and not sure if it ever had the chrome plates or not. Is there any source for these? I'm sure I could get some made up in required also.

I've answered my own question. After going thru several of my books, especially the Brooklands Book "AC Ace & Aceca 1953-1963", it is easy to see in the original articles that the Aces did NOT have the finishers at the base of the posts. Also, since they would have been secured with screws, there would be holes (or repairs) if they were originally fitted. Not sure when they started being included, or if they were an option?

Guess that should read AEX127 instead of AEX217 [:)]

Actually BEX316 has the slotted finishing plates but they are sort of an oval shape instead of the usual rectangular shape. I always thought they were homemade on my car. Can include a picture.
