For those of you that might be interested, a colleague of mine has just shown me an article in Top Gear Magazine ([V]I know, sorry) about the MKV. There are about 3 pages showing the outside of the car (with the interior covered from view) with a few details of price, options and build etc. Thought this might interest some of you in the UK.

And none of us will ever live long enough to see it built! Sorry, I just had to. Also Mr.Administrator, please inform me of the limits to which I may comment upon the current regime at "AC". As you may or not be aware, I have a "history" with the carbon life form that currently "owns" AC and tend to be, oh, maybe just a little caustic and doubtful about anything they claim. Heck, if A.L. told me it was August I would need to check the calender to be sure! I don't want to excced the limits here and become a troll. Thanks,

FYI there are photos of the new Mk V on the AC Cars website, I especially like the teak sun lounger nailed across the boot lid. Have a look at
http://www.acautomotive.info/     Also, I may be the last to find this website but
   http://autosportdesigns.com/ACCars/AC-MK-IV.aspx
has some nice black and white photos from the original Mk IV sales brochure. The site also has a (2005) press release announcing the "new" 1950s Ace Classic, again there are some interesting photos of the Ace Classic under construction, but the picture of the AC factory at the bottom of the photo gallery is a bit of a shock.

Notice that the rack must be removed to open the boot! Only the highest levels of engineering and design at AC (Malta)!

Just to point out that many (if not all) of the photo's of the AC factory at http://autosportdesigns.com/ACCars/AC-AceClassic.aspx are of the old Frimley premesis in Surrey, south of London. This location closed down in October 2004, after which AC Cars moved to Guildford and then Malta. Hence not the 'current' view of the operations that the website suggests!

I put a call through to AC Cars' London distributor (Clive Sutton) yesterday. They assured me that they have sold a number of the MKV cars and that another new MKV will be in their showroom within the next week.  The retail price is £49k for the standard car (excluding any extras like visors etc) with carbon fibre body. Per the dealer, it has the current Ford Mustang engine producing 345bhp.

I'll be making a visit within the next 2 weeks (assuming that the car does arrive) to have a look around the car. Watch this space ...

Actually, several of the photos date back to circa 1985 and the Autokraft works at Brooklands......now a giant Tesco. "AC" has used whatever images they find from whatever era. I have several originals of the photos from the old Brooklands Autokraft "factory" The photos are a mix of Brooklands Autokraft, Brooklands Vickers Road works, Frimley and the current goat shed on Malta.

Cobham.. the picture at the bottom was more than a "bit of a shock". to be fair not everything is done in a grand style, but this "factory" looks like a 3 car garage. Is this in malta, england or ? Jim

I believe Autosport and AC have now parted company. Autosport's home page doesn't have a link to the AC webpages any longer. AC signed an agreement with Unique Performance in the US in March this year to supply Mk Vs; however I haven't heard anything more on this.

I receieved the following email from Clive Sutton yesterday:

Clive Sutton Premier Marques are presenting their collection of performance & luxury cars at the show this year, featuring the new Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Bentley Continental GTC Convertible, Porsche 911 Turbo, Ford GT, Ferrari 599, Mustang Shelby GT500, Hummer H3, Mustang Eleanor and the debut of the AC MKV.

If anyone is attending the MPH roadshow I'd be interested to learn any details of the MKV. I must admit that my interest is mainly based on my curiousity of how many cars which actually be made.

Does anyone else find it a little strange that the "Ace Classic" should be based on the oh-so-nearly-a-Cobra shape of the 2.6 Ruddspeed Ace, granted, a sleek and beautiful machine, but I would have thought the less marketable Ace variant... in replica form at any rate?

Ah yes the 'Ace Classic'. I haven't heard anything more about this since it was announced last year.

On the Mk V for MPH'06, it'll be interesting to see if Clive Sutton will be exhibiting the same car (grey) as the one on the AC website /in Top Gear Magazine. If so, the suspicion must be that AC have still not started production of this car.
