72nd Members' Meeting, Goodwood
« on: March 30, 2014, 23:47:05 »
Congratulations to our Chairman, Andy Shepherd on a fantastic victory against stiff competition from Ferrari and Jaguar to win the Tony Gaze trophy event at Goodwood today. The ex-David Emmans' car, now campaigned by Andy also won at Goodwood with Paul Fletcher back in 1961! Commiserations to Nigel Winchester who  sadly could not make the grid for the race despite excellent practice times.

Well Done Andy, Great Result.Great Event ...Commiserations to Nigel.
Best way to describe the event:-

It was a Mini GoodWood Revival without the commercialism and crowds.
Met up and bumped into a couple dozen ACOC members on Saturday, when Andy and Nigel had there practise in readiness for the first race on Sunday at 10.00. (Race 4)

According to Nigel, His Bristol engine either melted a piston or had a couple of valves touch,  Too expensive to run without stripping  down for full inspection.

A big thank you to Bertrand Leseur for the complementary entry ticket. Really appreciated..[;)]

Keith,

Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the event, I may need to go next year! Just trying to fit into the kids schedule (never thought four girls could be hard work). I'm so pleased for Andy. He is so quick around Goodwood, to win in his new Ace is just even more special. If you missed the race watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaWH8sUiaaw

Andy did great passing to win the race.

Thanks a million for posting the youtube link.  A bloody good race, wish I had stayed the whole weekend, but then I would have missed a great evening with Paul & Jacqui Eaton.

Those who didnt see the race, MUST watch the Youtube link... WELL DONE ANDY...[:)]  Flying the ACOC Flag as Usual...[;)]

Thanks Guys! Wow what a weekend. I was dreaming of a podium position but to win at Goodwood was unbelievable. Thanks to all my AC friends who came to watch, and for all their moral support. I could feel them willing me on as I picked off the leaders one by one. Thanks to David Emmans for allowing me to buy his beautiful Ace, and Stanton Engine which performed like a dream. Ferrari 250 TdFs, Aston DB2/4s and Jag XK150s watch out, we're on a roll! I will try to file some copy for the ACtion Magazine, and I'm still wearing my Goodwood Winners Cap!

Well done Andy! You shouldn't sleep in your winners cap - that's a bit sad. (Having said that...I probably would)
