EFI system

[AK1177]

G'day everyone
   
   AK1177 is a 1987 MkIV, and I am planning to replace the standard Mustang EFI with an aftermarket system that has the classic look of a carby. Does anyone have experiences - good or bad - with replacement systems and knowledge that can be shared. My preference is an 8-stack system, but I do have an open mind. Thanks.

   Thats my old car and I can recommend.
   
   They are TWG throttle bodies.
   
   The car gave 23 mpg whilst on a run. I have no hesitation in recommending them. They were smooth and gave cracking power.
   
   Having had carburettors before on another car I can only say do it!!
   
   The main thing is to get an ecu set up that you can get altered locally. If you buy a cheap one you'll get nothing but hassle.

Best place I know: just make sure the rest of the engine is modified for it, cams, pistons etc. Otherwise your performance increase will be negligible. The gas tank needs to be modified for an in-tank high pressure pump and sensors have to be added to the exhaust for the oxygen sensors and the distributor has to be either eliminated or modified for a crank position sensor etc. Expensive but if done right the engine will perform like a modern one and will last a lot longer due to having the correct air/fuel mixture at all times.

FAST EFI has many new applications and even has a *8* stack EZ-EFI that might be worth a look. The stock ford system might be a bit long in the tooth, but it will do everything you need = you just need to tune it!

I had an eightstack.com system installed. It is beautiful. No fuel rails. Looks like a set of Webers. I told the shop I wanted it to look old school so they hid all the components.    I have just bought their engine computer and 'hot rod' harness for my car. Their customer service has been first class and their harness is a beautiful quality product. You also get lifetime upgrades to the software. I haven't installed my system yet so can't give a final report but from what I have read on various reviews this system is superb.
