Here is a nice looking low mileage MKIV that appears pretty much original.

Nice car indeed.

Nearly 100% original, only minor changes (wingnuts, steering wheel) as to the photos perfect condition and very close to a be an Oldtimer here in Europe.
Is this a carburetted engine or a converted EFI ? (see the air compressor still in place)

Price: so lala, would be 103.000 € incl. shipping, insurance and import tax.......a Little bit too much for Continental Europe.

I would say it is carb engine considering the model year. My MKIV also is a 1986 and was carb when I received it. Looks very original including the front bumperettes, the twin exhaust on one side only in 1986 and the engine bay. I contacted the dealer and emailed him a source for the courtesy light lens missing between the seats to make the car complete. I like the blacked out fender guards on this car. Very attractive with the green paint.

He ask me if the price is reasonable. I told him we want every MKIV to sell for as much as possible. Think big!

Everything as it shoud be for a carburettet car from 86. Mine had the same engine and exhaust combo when i bought it.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!

1986 is the year when MKIVs started to be injected, and mine, although with an earlier serial number (AK1113) than yours, has  stock EFI (and of course one exhaust end on each side) ...

1986 MK IVs can be carb or EFI.

And the changeover is NOT serial number dependent! Cars with higher numbers may be carb'ed vs. lower numbers that are EFI. The VIN was assigned before production and Brian often moved units up and back depending upon how loud we complained! Therefor the serial number is not an indication of build sequence.

yep, I konw, Jim ... I was just highlighting that the model year or the serial # is not a precise way to determinate if a car is supposed to be carbed or not [;)] !
