The ACOC Logo
« on: April 28, 2013, 13:56:41 »
Barrie writes that Club can’t use the previous AC logo as AC has rescinded the grant of the honour of its use. AC cannot rescind it because AC, through the Hurlocks, granted the ACOC the right to use the logo indefinitely.

This arrangement was accepted by all successor parties to AC until recently when, following fifty plus years of Club use, AC’s now directors decided to present the Club with a choice:  “either enter into a license agreement to use our logo ....... or remove the AC logo” or contest legal proceedings.

The Club could only enter into a licence agreement if it surrendered its existing right to use the AC logo and the proposed licence had conditions (such as an implied obligation to censor Forum comment) that were not acceptable. Further, the Council concluded that it was not appropriate to use and risk Club funds to enforce our right in law.

It is hoped that at some future stage AC’s directors withdraw their promise of proceedings against our Club, so that we can resume our use of our logo and rekindle a cordial relationship unfettered by legal threat.
