Looking at the photo with Mark Blundell in the 212, I wonder if that cockpit is extra long or if he is so small. I'm just 180 cm tall and sitting in my MkIV, the seat almost touches the rear bulkhead.

For info the CRS, 212 and MKV have extra leg room, the 212 also had carbon bucket seats, one would have to be exceptionally tall to have the seat back at the rear bulk head and be able to reach the pedals in a MKV

Comparing pics of the 212 with the (standard) CRS and the new Mk V, it is interesting to note that the 212 body already includes a distinctive feature of the Mk V, namely the positioning and mounting of directional indicators at the front and all lights at the back. Remember the 212 was produced for the 2000 London Motor Show.

   Agreed. OK, maybe the sound of the Lotus wasn`t to every V8 fan`s taste, but as an important milestone in AC`s evolution, let`s hope it stays 'as is'.
   One thing you`d have to have on the passenger seat at car shows is:
   
   For sale on EBAY for £2.99 + p&p.

   Just to let you know that I was given a test run as a passenger in the 212 S/C. A few months later at the opening of the Rockingham Stadium the car was used as the pace car for the Nacar entrants. Neil Fisher of Redline Engineering was at the time with AC and he drove the car to the event & back. I am not sure who drove the car as the Nascar pace.
   There seems to be one car with front low spoilers and the other without. At the time the pace car was without but were these added as a later mod?

There is a red 212 currently for sale via an advert on the U.K based Autotrader web-site. It looks exactly like the photographs shown.

Hello All,
   
   Can't really believe I'm typing this - but I'm now the proud owner of X577 HRD (currently on the plate EA 15)[:)] - I missed out on it when it was for sale in 2004 but have managed to bag it this time. I picked it up from Harrogate today and had a blast down the M1 Motorway back to London.
   
   Initial impressions (in dry, but winter conditions) is a very fast car - very easy to spin the wheels up in gears 1-3 and hence had to be mindful of this on the way down. Its also very well built - the carbon weave is evident when raising either the boot or bonnet - quite stunning.
   
   Will take some pictures tomorrow and have a go at posting them here - today has been a true highlight[:p]
   
   New to the forum - usually post on pistonheads.com - one question - want to actively get involved in the AC Owners Club - when is the next meet?

   A bell rang in my head and made me dig out 'Autocar World's Fastest Cars'; Xmas 2001, and there she is.. X577HRD in the 0-100 mph and back to nought, stunning in that red with the black wheels, some murmurs about traction etc; nothing new to Cobra people!
   
   With that Tremec six speed, yours should be quite economical @ cruising speed, great to hear of this car again, enjoy!
