CSX3045 to be offered at RM Auctions (Jan 2013)
« on: November 27, 2012, 19:42:14 »
One of the 29 original 427S/C "semi-competition" Cobras (CSX3045) is going to be offered at RM Auctions Scottsdale, Jan 18, 2013 (see http://www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm?SaleCode=AZ13&CarID=r101).

CSX3045 is the original Cobra that was used to create the body molds for the Contemporary Classic replica, and by extension the Superformance MkIII.

IIRC, CSX3045 last sold at auction in Jan 2007 for $1.43 million USD including buyer's premium.

RM Auctions recently posted a nice little YouTube video to help promote the sale of CSX3045.  Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0Ar23u4I34.

RM Auctions Scottsdale will also be auctioning off CSX2032, an original 260 street Cobra with worm-and-sector steering since converted to racing spec that was once titled to (if not actually owned by) Lance Reventlow (see http://www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm?SaleCode=AZ13&CarID=r124).

Aaron, I received the flash drive and have been slowly working my way through the pics.  But it's a super busy time at work right now, so I haven't been able to concentrate on them yet.

By the way, I had a spare 10 mins yesterday, so I popped in again at Legendary Motorcar. Sadly, they ddin't have any new Cobras there.  Just the same ol' ones I see time and time again (CSX3136, 3162 and 3235). And the lighting in the showroom absolutely stinks for picture taking.  Argh!!

RM advertized in the December issue of Octane classic & performance cars for CX3045, with a nice picture. If I remember well in the first 5 pages.

RM Auctions is reporting that they sold CSX3045 today for a hammer price of $1.825 million USD after a lively bidding war in the room and on the phones.

I've been told that CSX2032 did not sell yesterday at a high bid of $710K.

The RM website shows that it sold for $2,007,500 which presumably includes the buyers premium.

That's right.  Buyer's premium is 10% at RM.

RM hasn't yet publicized what that DB4 Superleggera sold for, but it had a pre-auction estimate of $275-350K.

An original Ford GT40 (P/1034) failed to sell at RM Scottsdale on a high bid of $2.15 million.  I saw this car in person at the Carmel Concours in Aug 2012.  The guy tried to sell it to me then.  If only he knew what my bank account looks like.  ;-)
