Cobra 50th event at NHRA Museum (Pomona CA)

One of the year's big celebrations took place this weekend at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, California, where dozens of Cobra owners gathered for a 50th anniversary reunion put on by the Team Shelby Pacific Coast Division.
   
   In all the event attracted 1,000 visitors, 150 cars including Cobras, Shelby Mustangs and more, and such luminary guests as Parnelli Jones, Bob Bondurant, Pete Brock and Don Prudhomme.

   That is a cross ram intake with Webers, probably 45's I have that set up on my 260 engine. Probably an early 260 car.

Car #68 is CSX2021, aka the Junkyard Dog.  Here's a detail shot I found of it on Flickr.  The motor appears to be wearing four DCOE Webbers.

Thanks for the pictures! As far as I remember in one of the many Cobra book is told that Phil Remington welded a manifold similar to that in CSX 2021. Maybe it´s the one shown in the August 1962 Sports car Graphic centrefold. If the drawing was made using a real "model" - it must have been CSX 2000. Didn´t CSX 2000 had the inside brakes? Maybe the cutaway drawing was made by drawings or the engine was taken from a photo like the one avove on the bench. At that time - if I remember right - no downdraught Webers were available, that´s why thi strange kind of manifold was designed and manifactured. What I didn´t know is that there was an casted manifold available. Michael

I believe downdraft webers were utilized on V12 Ferraris, etc. from the early-mid 1950's (maybe not in this size).
   
   I suspect the rational behind the manifold design could be to achieve the cross-ram long tube configurization.
   
   Great photos! I wonder if the gold car is the one on a San Jose used car lot for $8,600 in the early 1970’s.

   I guess thats what the going price was for a Cobra in the early  70`s !
