289 seats
« on: July 31, 2023, 23:25:27 »
Does anyone have dimensions of drawings to share for 289 seats? Preferably the earlier aluminium bucket type.
I'm trying to make my own from photos but need a bit more detail.
Frame tube diameter
Overall width
Overall height
Base angle
Rear angle
Radius of seat back
...And anything more would be welcome!

Thank you for that, I'd already seen it and have copies of the pix for the seats he made. I don't want to spend thousands (yet) for the drawings.
I did manage to get to see the Anglia Car Auctions David Brown ACs and photo and measure their seats. The construction is very simple from 3/4" steel tube and ally sheet with a few pop rivets thrown in.
Did the early 260/289 had the same seats as the Ace. Can anyone confirm/deny?
The seat back will be altered to a curve rather than squared off.
I will attempt to construct a seat frame and bucket in the next few weeks. I'll wait until I have been to NEC Classic show in case I can glean some more info and maybe identify a seat trimmer.

Re: pair Black leather Cobra Seats with Runners

Ace Seats have a flat back, where as Cobra Have a Curved Back.  Not 100% sure if any  early cobra Seats used flat back as per Ace.
Suggest you contact, Robin Pearce the Thames Ditton Cobra Registrar.
I know of a Pair of Black leather Cobra seats  in UK which were made in 1971 to cobraise an Ace Bristol.
They are in very good condition complete with runners.
If you are interested please fire me a Email.
and I can put you in contact with owner.
Cheers for Now
