AK1002 for Sale on Ebay

See at:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other-Makes-1983-AC-COBRA-MK-IV-5K-ALUMINIUM-BODY-PRICED-SELL-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20b3e5a609QQitemZ140457125385QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks

Front end hit hard.  Looks like far more than the advertised 5K miles on the car (based on pedal wear, etc.)

I would question the "original paint" claim if the side markers have been filled in? I think the "$30,000.00" to fix is possibly light. I think it will take every bit of that;
   15K for a corner
   10K to fit
   8-12K to paint the car
   2-5K misc.

If you can do the work and don't count the sweat equity as a cost, this could be a decent buy......

Could it have had the 'marker delete' option, or indeed were they even included that early? Are the bumpers even telescopic?

I wonder if there is any chassis damage, as it appears to have a crease under the passenger door at the front:

and the back of the door has chipped the paint on the body...it`s possibly now stood on the spare wheel, but the angle still looks wrong. Track rod is well bent!

It does still seem like a reasonable prospect to repair at the current price ($15k) or even twice that, but reserve not met yet... how much will it take to actually win it?
   We shall see.

I don`t think so, it`s just missing the rubbers on brake & clutch, with only paint worn away on the clutch, the throttle rubber looks pretty fresh:

I wonder if this is one of the "Car Club of Dallas" 'Rent-a-supercar' vehicles mentioned HERE, that would have been an awkward customer/vendor conversation!!!

Looks pretty original exept wheels (should be 15"?) and probably steering wheel. Those early cars came with a T 10, 351 Windsor, Girling brakes and Mk III suspension.

Nic,

One photo of the boot inside shows the indent from the marker lamp and the welded-in filler.

And the bumpers ARE on the PGMs (Poly Gel Mitagators) Ford speak for absorbers.

Ah...yes... of course! Well spotted. redundant wiring present too! Is it still possible this was a 'late request'before leaving Autokraft? It`s a tidy job. The paint looks well done, no signs of overspray or  bad masking, but not easy to tell from photos really.

According to SAAC, this was an early (1982) car shipped to Richard Buxbaum sans engine, so can't judge by what's under the hood/bonnet

I'd be tempted but would not make the committment without an inspection and it's not exactly local.....
