AC 428 Frua 1971
« on: November 28, 2006, 23:53:00 »
The rebuilding project continues and I need further help, I suspect that this will not be the last plea, currently we need a set of shock absorbers. The ones that were on the car are frozen and at some stage a previous owner has put a series of rubber doughnuts on the piston leg??? I guess to act as a shock absorber ???

Plus I need some seat cushions ( place where your rear end is parked ), the ones on the car have the foam rubber disintegrated on the outer edges and the leather is extremely brittle. We have taken one apart and the cushion has " DALLA LUCE 61 I 1 " stencilled on it.

Any help or advice will be gratefully recieved.

Spax or Koni for the shocks, same as a MK III (427 Cobra). I think Armstrongs were the original units and I understand they can be rebuilt though I don't know who does them.

Seat foams? Visit the local furniture upholstery shop, buy a block of foam and fire up the electric carving knife! Really, thats what many trimmers use....

Stevson Motors in Birmingham have a good stock of new (old stock) Armstrong dampers and can rebuild (www.stevsonmotors.co.uk). I got a set of Armstrong Competition AT10s for my ex-Works Sunbeam Imp Rally Car and I know they rebuild shocks for old Formula cars.

On behalf of a client we have also started restoration project of a similar car (c/n CF-33). Would it be possible to know a serious supplier for engine parts? Thanks.
