« on: May 18, 2021, 19:38:06 »
This AC Bristol is red with a new tan leather interior and a tan Hartz cloth top and side curtains. It has a fully rebuilt engine by Vilas motor works with 3 Solex carburetors, the carbs were rebuilt by Joe Cruto. It is fitted with a new custom aluminum radiator sourced in the UK with a 16” electric fan. It has a custom stainless steel grill guard and period Marchal headlamps. It sits on new Borrani wheels fitted with Pirelli Cinturato tires. This car was rallied on the California Mille with 0 problems or faults. It is fitted with disc brakes, overdrive, an oil cooler and a LeMans side exit exhaust. Although it is titled a 1958 the AC registrar has confirmed the car as matching numbers and leaving the factory at Thames Ditton on October 30, 1957. This beautiful AC Bristol has been in the same ownership for twelve years. Currently titled as a 1958 but can be corrected with new owner to 1957.

It is time to move this beauty on!  She needs to get out on the open road join those vintage car events!  She is dying to lounge under the shade of an elm at the local car show!

Jim
Interesting that Kelly hasn't made reference to the Chassis number, She usually does her home work and confirms history and numbers...... Could be she is selling on behalf of a client  who instructed her not to confirm chassis number.
So being cautious...  I believe this could  be BEX340 with matching engine 100D671.
Looking at pictures of BEX340 in my pictorial reference library the  pictures dated 2010 when for sale at RM Auction confirms
it is BEX340,  :-X ..  ..  But I could be wrong.

Also offered here: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1341119

Yes I always do my homework but accidentally forgot to mention the chassis and engine:  1957 AC Ace-Bristol  BEX340 engine 100D 671

This is a beautiful car having inspected and photographed it myself.  I was just popping on the site to reduce the asking price.  I have three videos of the car for interested buyers:  A walk around, engine starting from cold and driving.

There are an amazing number of Aces on that carandclassic link, none that I found with the all-important numbers.  A bad trend.
I would really like find out how to view the videos of BEX340.

BEX 340 numbers and videos

Jim,

I include them in the presentation that I send interested buyers - along with about 200 photos of exterior, interior, undercarriage and engine.  I also include a walk around video, a video of the car starting from a cold start and one of the car driving.
I will try to add them to the site:

Thanks for posting those.  The driving video is the same as the walk around.
Some things don't look quite right on this Ace.

Here is the driving video I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzWGFLHi9e8

Interesting to see a car with a brass chassis plate with a serial number high enough to expect the later aluminium style plate.
It looks to be a reproduction plate however.
Whatever, it seems to be a very nice car! Never seen such floor mats before!

Jim throwing a comment out to disparage this car is like writing a letter to the Editor and not signing it.

Please tell us more about why this car has so many things not right about it.  Other than the chassis plate that may have been replaced at some point which is not a big deal having been restored twice - what do you find not right about this car.

First you pointed out there were no pictures of the numbers.  Then you pointed out that there were no videos.  Once they were all posted you put out a vague comment putting the car down for not being "right".  One would almost think you had an ulterior motive.

We are all ears.  Please let us know what is just not right with this 64 year old car.

And thank you BEX 316.  The car comes from a very well known collector who takes great pride and care with his cars.  I sell quite a few AC Bristols (and Ace's) and I am quite proud to represent this beauty.

Wow, Cargirl!
I said "some" things didn't look right to me, not "many."
I didn't complain that photos of number plates were missing, but that I found it curious that the numbers themselves were not mentioned.
I did not mention videos of the car except to say I would enjoy seeing them and then thanking you for posting them.
I have no intent to disparage this Ace and certainly no motive to do so.
I owned a 1957 for 30 years before losing it in a garage fire, now also nearly 30 years ago.  Forgive me for retaining an interest in them if not the wherewithal to purchase another one.
I find the hood scoop, nose guard, the dash color and the door-rear fender junction out of place to my eye.  I didn't notice the floor mats that bex316 mentions.
I have enjoyed your posts and sales offerings over the years and will try not to offend you in the future.

Thank you for the response Jim.  I only take offense if a comment is not followed with facts or viable observations.  Without that it implies the car has real issues that would effect its value.  That's how the brain works.  Always assume the worst.

However, as I expected, and am pleased to see, the issues you mention are minor and the asking price of the car reflects its value.  She is a beautiful, well maintained, matching numbers, need nothing, 64 year old AC Ace Bristol.  I should look so good at 64.

I am glad you enjoy my posts.  I enjoy being a part of this community.

Cargirl:
Actually, I expected an apology for your rude post above, not a justification.

This is a unique group of convivial, courteous and helpful folks who love AC's.

I think that if you are going to use it as a business platform, then you should be especially mindful of that.
