Didn't someone say AC's were built by winos? But then I digress...nevermind

Just a quick note ........
I've spoken to a friend who has broken up at least 15 or 16 2 litre saloons over the years and he has never seen a four eared spare wheel retainer.
I therefore spoke to Mike Smith the 2 litre Saloon / Buckland registrar who categorically states the spare wheel is held secure by pushing the wheel into is housing and wedging it tightly against triangulr timber frames. No such four eared wheel retainer employed on a AC 2 litre Saloon to his knowledge.
I have put feelers further afield, However should any one know if these retainers were employed as standard fixtures in any production car of the period, please let us know.
In the meantime still searching.
Keith
