Ace/Aceca bumper end caps
« on: August 16, 2009, 23:56:27 »
Does anyone have one or more of the end caps as used on the tubular bumpers on Aces and Acecas for sale, or know of a source? If I can buy at least one, I could get copies made.

   Thanks for any leads.

Suggest you contact  Austin Weltman,  ACOC member for many years, he  used to be ACOC official registrar for Acecas,  During which time he had various spare parts made including front and rear twin bumper sets. ( I think they were made in Stainless Steel.)

He may well have a spare set of end caps or still know where to get some reproduced,  you've got nothing to loose.

Thanks Keith, have already checked with Austin and Ron Leonard with no luck. Any other suggestions? I've tried to call Brian E. but so far have not been able to reach him.

Peter,
Do you have a picture of what they look like? Maybe there is an alternative source.

It's a long shot, but closer to home,  Give Ron Mulacek a call
(Chicargo)  he runs three Ace and a Aceca and has broken up a few ACs  in the past, When they were just old Sport Cars and not worth restoring.  If you haven't his details, I can email his tel no and email address tonight.

In the meantime I will phone a few ACOC members to see what might be hidden in the odd drawer or cupboard in their garage or workshop.

Emailed you some photos and detailed drawings complete with accurate measurements of the end caps.

Should sufice, so you can get a few setsand a few spares made up.

Be interested to hear if they are the same as the Second Hand end caps you are getting from Simon.

Alternatively, cut a thread in each end of the bumpertubes and make up some screw in Button end caps, could be cheaper to reproduce.

I have yet to master posting photos and diagramms on the Forum,  If you think the pictures and drawings could help other club members make up end caps to replace lost or damaged units, please feel free to publish them on this thread.

Peter.

Cheers sport,    Might just help another AC member refurbish his Aceca or Ace Bumper/s or replace that long lost end cap.
If you are making up a few, wouldn't cost much more to run off a few spares.

Worth sounding out ACOC members,  Maybe ACedes Spares could get a batch made up if the demand is there.......  If so  chrome or Stainless Steel ??

As promised, here's the pictures and drawings of the end caps that Keith sent me. Hope they help out some others! I'll let you all know how many I track down, and if I need to get any made up will check to see who else may need some
