AC ACE diff info
« on: December 16, 2020, 09:05:43 »
Good morning everybody

I'm rebuilding an ACE Bristol diff.
I need the satellite gears thrust washers.
Does anybody know somebody who will have that? INracing haven't.

Another question: where the ACE Bristol diff came from initially?
It's sure they didn't create a diff for the ACE only.

Thanks
James

Re: (ENV) Ace Bristol Diff Parts

Tony Byford as well as rebuilding Bristol  & early  BMW engines also rebuilds Bristol gearbox's and Ace (ENV) Differentials.
He may well have NOS or very good second hand parts to  help/assist in  rebuilding  your Ace Bristol Diff.

Good Luck

If you need the hemispherical washers i obtained some from Brown & Gammon's in Baldock!

As far as I know the front part of the Ace/Aceca differential is a ENV used for example in a Jaguar XK120: https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/de/FindParts/Families/Classic%20XK/2/XK%20120%20FHC/86/REAR%20AXLE/15681/assembly/21608?sectionIds=%5B15918%5D
The rear part and especially the output shafts are something complete different.

Correct on the ENV also being used in early Jaguar XK120.
However, checking with SNG Barratt they do not have the necessary shims and pinion shaft distance piece, these are NLA.
Regarding Brown & Gammons, this is an MG specialist.  Are there MG models that used ENV diffs?

I purchased some Differential Thrust Washers from Brown & Gammon in Baldock in 2012 to build six sets of differentials fitting new ratio Crown & Pinions to Saloon housings.
The part number was 1G7445 & they were £1.2 each.
These are bronze cup washers, i cannot remember the sizes but they were used OK.
Maybe you should get a sample from them & check if that is what you need!
