Body shop required any references
« on: October 17, 2020, 17:15:16 »
Hi today the Ol' Girl has suffered a little damage. She has been reversed into which has creased the front drivers side wing, bent the bumper and a couple of small dents.

Has anyone used a good body shop who knows alloy bodies. I do have a man who could respray the wing as he done the job on the wings last year. But I need to get some estimates for the insurance company. So any ideas, I live in Kent near the Sussex border, so I don't want to have to go to far north etc.  I do have a spare wing in my Garage but as you know AC's are hand built and not sure if it would fit.

Cheers  G.

Oh no! Sorry to see this!
For insurance estimates, AC Heritage at Brooklands, Kingswell Coachworks, G&A Fabrications or someone like that?
Hope you get the Ol’ Girl good as new soon!

Cheers Nik,

Will try Kingswell first s they appear to be down the road to me well 7 miles or so, I will also email AC heritage with pics first to see what they say.

I have been down my store this am, and checked my 2 sets of  spare wings, one set looks good, but will need the wing mounted mirrors holes filling in. Could be easier for the coach works than trying to get the crease out of my damaged wings. Also go to see if bumper is re-formable or get one of my spare ones re-chromed.

All this because some ****** did not bother to stop and leave a note. Have to see what the insurance company want to do re the repairs.

Cheers G

Another vote for Lawrence and the guys at G&A fabrications at Walton on Thames. They know their way round ACs.

Cheers Nik

Took the ol' girl to Hilarys Coachworks in Tunbridge Wells yesterday, lots of mmm's and tutt's. Not sure about them.

Waiting for the main man at Kingswells to come back from Hol's for an estimate.

I would go to  G&A's or AC  but a bit of a drag to get there with the car.

Still wait and see what estimates are and insurance companies view.

Got my first estimate for repair work £3680. Jeez not sure what their hourly rate is. Still 2 more to come.

Hi Guys

Just had the man from Kingswells round and he is a very knowledgeable chap. Just waiting for the estimate now. He is going to do some extra work for me as well (assuming he gets the job) he is going to put some vents in the trailing end of the wings to help get heat out of the engine bay.
