Ace spare wheel Knob / Nut
« on: October 06, 2020, 06:55:27 »
I hope everybody is well and keeping active in their garages.

I am looking for the castellated knob / nut that holds the spare wheel down in the boot and wondered if anybody has one or knows what other car they came from back in the day.
Any help much appreciated.

I have a few of these. I'll check what I have and post some photos later.

Re: Lock down Aluminium Cone shaped eared nut.

I believe Gerry Hawkridge had a batch made late last year possibly early this year, Give him a bell, I'm sure he can post one off to you same day. :)
Stay safe . regards to family

.
Klassic

They are correct  for securing the spare wheel in both the Ace and Aceca, not sure if the same applies to Greyhound and  early Cobra . Maybe some one can  confirm...

I can confirm these are correct for Greyhound and 260/289 Cobra. 👍🏻
The ones Gerry has in stock are very nice, but not an exact copy(see photo. £40, +p&p +vat). Correct originals as per Klassik’s photos are hard to find and expensive!

If you are prepared to have a none original knob of good quality have a look at WDSComponents .com
They have some imperial thread types as well as metric, very affordable!

I bought a well made brass knurled nut from the internet. I'd fit an original A.C. nut if I came across one, but actually I quite like my own offering. The brass nut is 'period' enough for me, I also had to weld the captive nut back in the chassis when the tank was out.

The alluminium disk is cut from an old pattina'd piece of alluminium, which we think is as old as the car.
