Peter
The price of Good Ace Bristols has steadily increased five fold over the past 9 years.
BEX288 a concourse (LHD)Ace Bristol, truelly immaculate inside outside, underneath and mechanically, sold privately earlier this year for £180,000. Whilst RS5003 Sold at auction last month for £209,000.(Inc Auction premium)
The poor value of the £ against the Euro and US $ has slowed the market a little , However the market is strong with many Aces being imported back to Uk and Europe especially France and Germany.
Many lost or little heard of Aces are finding there way onto the market as solid project cars, however the cost to fully restore Aces and even more so Acecas is not always a viable proposition for Traders, but for the AC enthusiast who has certain skills and good contacts they are certainly a sound investment with the bonus of giving years of enjoyment. Both during the restoration and use thereafter
As you stated Peter, "If you have to ask the Price, you can't afford it." Lets hope the true AC enthusiasts continue to buy, restore and use their ACs to the full leaving the Classic Sports Car Investors to invest in other Marques.
