Barrie

I am sure the 'Commitee' would need no prompting if it was the Ace/Cobra with an anniversary.

I cannot envisage me doing a write up for Action, I prefer the Forum medium. It is now, it is current, it is bite size.

My point is 75years is a pretty remarkable milestone, that has not been picked up on.

Still, I've tried.

Let's see if any other 2 litre owners come forward and share images of their cars.

Hi Barrie

You surely have never met me, Lithe? Young? anyway, clearly disc brakes win, at least the OAP will make to the chip shop.

Not quite sure of the point you are making but, being a dithering OAP myself maybe I am missing the point.

At least I will be able to see him with my very bright Led headlamps ;D

Cheers John for comment.

Hi all

Yes, I know our cars are not Ace's or Cobra's etc etc. but would it not have been nice for the club to acknowledge the 75th anniversary of the production of the 2-litre saloon.

I know the club is a bit Ace/Cobra centric,(Well maybe a lot), but share a little light on the Saloons, after all if it had not been made post war then maybe the Ace/Cobra et al may never have existed.

So come on 2-litre owners stick a post on here with a pic of your car for the 75th year. It does not matter if it is battered and tattered or pristine, it's 75 years old!!!!!!!!!

Here's mine

Cheers

Hi ya been off of here for a bit. Been busy driving and day to day living.

So getting down to disc conversion for the winter rest.

I have stripped the old wheel studs from some spare hubs. That was a task as did not know if they were screw in's or push fit's. They turned out to be screw in's. This required the peening on the rear of the hub to be ground off and a 1/4 drill into the rear of the stud to weaken it, then I used an Irwin 13mm bolt/stud extractor on a bar to remove. they were very tight. The hub thread was still tapered from the peening even when removed. (see pics).

I have offered up the discs to the hubs to see were they sit, these are Land-rover Defender vented discs. the stud holes have been enlarged to take the new linger wheel studs that will be fitted to the hubs. I have estimated that I will need a spacer of approx 32mm (need to do a bit more measuring yet to finalise) fitted between the hub and the disc, this will be made to fit tight to the hub cone and a spigot flange to fit inside the disc centre bore.

I am going to use the rear drum brake plate to make a pattern for the disc calliper bracket in 1/4 steel plate.

I will be fitting the hubs with some spare bearings I have to mock it up.

The wheels I have at present are 4 3/4 x 5  pcd with adaptors, these wheels will be redrilled to 5x5 pcd as per hubs. The then will fit to the extended wheel studs that will go through the hub spacer and disc.

Still I am getting there. Slowly slowly catchee monkey.

Pics look great.

Pity I was on holiday.

Let's hope the sprint made some money back to the Club pot this year!

Hi Bobby

I too have seen that car, last time I heard of it was when it was sale a few years ago.

If I remember correctly, it had a chassis from a SUV/Pickup with the V8 mounted in that and the body fitted to it. It sat quite a bit higher than standard.

I would love long in the term to fit a V8 mine, a 289 would be great. One day ;D.

Take care.

Hi Andy

Quite a range of prices, I saw all these as well.

£28k They must be on drugs I think.

I am sure the Hurlock one will fetch a better price as a one off car.

If anyone wants to have the other black one that is for sale looked at let me know as it is in a village just up the road to me. I could give it a check over and take additional photos etc so you can decide if you want to travel down. Just contact me on here.

The green one was on Ebay a while ago privately for £9k.

Some of these would be good for a younger owner to get into AC's with.

I know if the price was right for the local one to me and I had sufficient space I would get it and drop a V8 in it. But then thats just me.

Cheers  All

Hope car is all ok.

Cheers  Guys.

Robin no its not the AC engine it is a Triumph 6 in my 2 Litre saloon.

Changed it years ago as rebuilding the Weller lump too expensive and too slow.

Hi

An old friend of mine who does Farm, Garage clearance etc came across this old JBP/Castrol grease gun and grease cylinders.

I have purchased it from hom with a view to restore and use (sure will make greasing all the ruddy nipples on the Girl easier).

I can only find one reference to this item on the interwebby, and that is a sectioned display item at the National science museum.

I assume based on the NCS item that it is probably made in 1938.

Is it American ? not much detail as to where made etc.

If anyone has any info please let me know.

Some pics below of item as it is now, will show some more oncde restored.

Cheers

Gary
