Hi

An old friend of mine who does Farm, Garage clearance etc came across this old JBP/Castrol grease gun and grease cylinders.

I have purchased it from hom with a view to restore and use (sure will make greasing all the ruddy nipples on the Girl easier).

I can only find one reference to this item on the interwebby, and that is a sectioned display item at the National science museum.

I assume based on the NCS item that it is probably made in 1938.

Is it American ? not much detail as to where made etc.

If anyone has any info please let me know.

Some pics below of item as it is now, will show some more oncde restored.

Cheers

Gary

Hi Just fitted a WOSP Hi Torgue starter to the Ol Girl as my original Lucas bomb starter burnt out.

It is the 1.4kw model and only weighs 4kgs as against 8.5kgs of the original.

Also only £50 more than a recon Lucas.

Seems to work just fine, must better spin up on starting.

Pics attached.

Will let you know how it goes lomg term.

Anyone used one of these?

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Mercer Cobra
« on: May 26, 2022, 18:58:20 »
Yeah I know I am not a Cobra fan per se, but, today I found a few old copies of Automobile Quaterly from the mid 60's.

In one of them is the Mercer Cobra a rather 60's hotrod bodied Cobra using the Cobra 289 and AC chassis stretched to 108 inch. I think it is a bit cool in a Daddy Roth kinda vibe. Better than the bulgy cobra thing.

The Mercer Cobra Roadster was a one-off vehicle commissioned by the Copper Development Association from Virgil Exner’s designs in Esquire. Its design was drawn up by Virgil Exner and Virgil Exner, Jr. and was built using a Cobra chassis, number CSX2451

I would post a pic but not sure how copyright runs in the states. Did find this on the inter webby.

Does anyone know about this car, or is not Cobra enough ;D

Ps if anyone want the edition let me know. Or maybe Terry might find it useful for an Action item, I might mail him.

Why is it we have stopped getting Council Meeting minutes/updates in Action?

I mean Action is full of ruddy adverts, maybe it would be nice to have a couple of pages to know what's going on with the club.

Hi

I  have 2  x 16 inch AC wheels these have been shot blasted and sprayed in the AC light green, both have tubed 175 radial tyres with loads of tread as only done about 2000 miles. I would like around £90. There is also one more 16 inch wheel that needs blasting but is in very good overall condition free of charge.

I am going to list these on Ebay as well.

Email me on kasper.pi@hotmail.co.uk

That no-one from the club committee did not post a Xmas or New Year message.

Maybe they do not consider the Forum worthy!

To think they want to attract new members ::)

Well Happy New Year.

Not suggesting anything but this one although diff reg no. looks very much like the latest one on Ebay as per my earlier post. Especially when you look at the ding in the front passenger wing and the slight creasing to the top part of the passenger wing. Also both missing the rubber rear wing guards and the tyres look Avons as well. Nuff said.

I am I disbeliever in coincidence?

Here's the link to the other. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313732069327?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3Dcdd9da21a43f4f379eb18fb43a5a1f99%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D353744987029%26itm%3D313732069327%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2060778&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

Here's a link to another 2 litre saloon on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353744987029?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Looks like a fair car but some work to do, paint a bit shabby, screen rubber surrounds need doing. Rear bumper will need doing, a few dings.

I've got no idea about the engine but if it is a barn find expect a bit of bother, gaskets etc.

Still would be a nice starter car for a younger member/ new member into classic AC's. We need to get more of these on the road.

Is this know to the club.

Gary

Check my other post re the 2 litre suspicious.

Here is the link to this lovely car, it seems to be a very low price but as with auction sites I hope this is a come and buy me price. Surely this car should fetch a higher price if not it is an ideal car for the younger/new AC enthusiast.

https://www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/545467

Get and look and encourage a younger/new  member go knows the club needs them.

Now I am off for a drive while it is dry and sunny down here in Kent.

Here is another 2 Litre for sale, does not appear to be expensive. Not sure about the strange 2 tone paint scheme on the rear arches and scallop only.

Not sure when the 2 Litre became a 'Coupe'. :D

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224540232943?hash=item3447a40cef:g:vpQAAOSwHRhg9ZoZ

I think I have seen this car on the inter-web in the past.

Is this one known to the club.
