Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / What to do
« on: January 27, 2018, 18:18:49 »
Been down the garage today just finishing off the old, only got the gearbox tunnel to complete the a shakedown run next week.

However in an idle moment, I was casting my eye over my other 2 litre project car, no engine, dent in roof, and a rotten front bulkhead. So daydreaming was in order and I got to thinking maybe a radical redo was needed along the lines of making it a speedster with a roof removal, door tops removed, cut down low windscreen, no wipers, one piece removable front wings and nose cone, panel in from the rear boot top, alloy panelled interior, no bumpers, maybe a rolled rear pan and front, stainless mesh grille, full louvered bonnet, shaved door handles etc and maybe a small V8.

Mmm I wonder if an AC resto rod would work. Have to have a go at having a sketch up.

Still, have to wait and see if the bonnet and nose grille turn up first.

Oh and enjoy taking the Ol Girl out and about first.

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / Blue leather rear back seat
« on: December 17, 2017, 18:25:02 »
I have a blue leather rear seat back, it is in general good condition has a very small tear but could easily be repaired.

If it is any use to a 2 litre owner or anyone who needs some blue leather to repair a seat, let me know, a donation to my local charity would be welcome.

Collection would obviously be best, Hawkhurst Kent.

ACOC News and Events / Club Secretary
« on: December 07, 2017, 17:59:39 »
I note the advert for a Club Secretary in Action and in Andy's reply in the lateness of Action posts.

It may be a good idea if the role of the Secretary was posted on the forum and in the next Action so members can consider it.

There is a general guide to the role of a club secretary on the website http://www.diycommitteeguide.org/resource/what-role-of-secretary covering  the code of good governance. that may be of some use.

However, any specifics for this club should be published. We would all also gain an insight to the work of the council members.

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / Colour code
« on: December 05, 2017, 16:49:12 »
Does anyone know the colour code for the AC Dark Grey. I have a tin that the paint has gone hard, it is Belco with some numbers that are hard to read and  appear to be P030-K246 or K1246 or KK46, it also states Spectrum Grey, AC Dark Grey.

   Any ideas?

General Forum / AC wheel bearing and other part Numbers.
« on: November 22, 2017, 11:57:45 »
I have found a useful SKF document that list wheel bearing part numbers here is the link AC is at the start of this document. If you scan through you can cross check other vehicles with same bearings so the owners clubs of those may prove useful as well. I not Lea Francis has the same front wheel bearings as an AC 2 Litre saloon for example.

   Heers the linkhttp://www.classicvehicledata.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/LIST-OF-SKF-NUMBERS-FOR-VEHICLE-WHEEL-BEARINGS.pdf

There are further PDF's for spares for a variety of car and parts have a look. http://www.classicvehicledata.com/aec-albion-allard-alvis-allis-charlmers-armstrong-siddley/

Hi  As you know I am changing engine, rewiring and various other bits to the Ol Girl. My auxiliary dial is at Speedy cables and they tell me the temp gauge is not easily repairable but could be done at a uneconomical cost. So I am looking to see if anyone has a spare auxiliary dial with a temp gauge in that still has its copper pipe and bulb end on. Black face preferred.

Please let me know, other wise I will have to use a separate temp gauge mounted somewhere.

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / AC and Triumph gearbox differences
« on: November 28, 2016, 11:12:40 »
Hi Just taken a couple of pics of the 2 Gearbox's. The AC one and the Triumph one with J type overdrive. As you can see the bell housing on the Triumph one is a bit smaller, so bulkhead clearance not a problem, the Triumph box is a bit longer but again as the engine is some 2 inches shorter than the AC Weller engine, the whole caboodle will sit a bit further forward, thereby giving me some playroom at the rear end for installation. In fact looking at the gearbox mounting will almost be in the same position.

The gear lever will obviously come out further back in the car, at least I wont keep banging my knuckles on the dashboard anymore.

Here is a link to some pics.

If you are not aware the AC Mos box is for sale see Ebay. Asking around £350  but maybe cheaper dealing direct with me.

   Cheers  Gary
