Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Psychedelic period pics of COB6107
« on: January 27, 2014, 06:10:45 »
The Grammy Awards, held in the USA tonight (26 Feb. 2014), had Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performing on stage. Front and center was Paul's piano, which was clearly painted by the BEV group, and in the same colors and similar pattern as their paint job on COB 6107 back in the 60's. Amazing it still exists.

There is only so much anyone who attempts to assemble information can do to exclude erroneous facts, and yes, owners are obviously reluctant to discuss negative issues about their cars. The net result is that any register (registry) is only as good as its contributors' honesty will allow. In the case of anyone demanding a car with no prior issues, the best bet is to buy a car one has known since new. Of course, that essentially precludes someone who arrives late to the party, or who has decided he likes a given marque after 50 years' worth of shenanigans might easily have occurred. If there is no alternative to a perfect car, then a new reproduction could be the most logical answer. For the rest of us, patina is perfectly acceptable.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Cobra Barn Find?
« on: August 12, 2014, 15:35:21 »
An interesting Cobra-like vehicle has been posted to the website Barnfinds.com. It can be seen at: http://barnfinds.com/cobras-in-barns-yep-they-are-still-out-there/

The owner says the car is not for sale, but maintains it is a genuine Cobra because it supposedly has a CSX VIN. Yet it is RHD and has an FE (big-block) engine in it. I wonder how many RHD AC Cobras were given a CSX VIN and an FE motor?

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / CSX 2535 Fake for sale
« on: May 01, 2014, 20:35:44 »
A website is offering a phony Cobra that is illegitimately using the VIN CSX 2535. It should be known that the real car has been in the USA in the hands of one owner since 1975. Since clones were not being produced in the mid 70's - especially as you could buy one for less than the cost of creating one from scratch - and given that the car in the following ad has never been heard of previously, which one do you think is likely to be the PHONY one?
