I use a WOSP starter, not sure if they do one for the AC motor. A Google search should tell.

I've just had the rad out of my Aceca for an overhaul. The 2 key points are that whatever you end up using make sure that the pads are pretty much non- compressible and that that when fitted their thickness aligns the top securing holes. I used 'shed-made' rubber pads of the appropriate thickness, the same as was fitted when we restored the car nearly 30 years ago.
I don't think you'll have much luck identifying 'OE' radiator mounts, but I expect that it was the rubbery stuff with an amount of cloth embedded in it.
Are you also looking for original air for the tyres (tires)!!!???

Just seen off the June issue of ACtion, a good read. I read the 'Federation News' pages and I'm still confused (nothing new there)!
My question, for anyone who is completely up to speed with the current situation, is this. Do my old things need to be declared as VHI?
I have the following-
1955 AC Aceca
1935 Frazer Nash
1924 AJS Big Port (motorcycle)
At present none of the above are liable for road tax fees or need an MOT (even thought the on line tax renewal states that an MOT is required for each!!)
The bit about declaring at the next re-licensing seems to be written as if we all are fully aware of the situation.
I don't want to wait till the next re-taxing to find out that I have to do something.
Any clarity greatly welcomed.

There was a notice In ACtion asking for a new registrar for AC Acecas.
I dropped the Chairman of the club an email saying that I would possibly consider taking on the role if they were struggling to find a suitable replacement (note the words - possibly consider)
Within a couple of week, the next edition of Action fell through my letter box - in it was a header welcoming 'GLENN BURNAGE AS THE NEW ACECA REGISTER'
As they say in the army - never volunteer for anything
I did it for 8 years!!

Kelly, I passed the register for AC engined Acecas to Geoff Wilkinson a couple of years ago. Geoff is in the process of ending his role as registrar!! Up until a replacement is found, I suppose Geoff remains the contact for AC engined Acecas regarding registry matters.

Gary, pop SAFTEK into the interweb thingy, they come highly recommended and did the 14" shoes on one of my cars.
They are stuck on, not riveted, which seems to be the way to go these days, modern adhesives mean that rivets are a thing of the past (sod originality!!)

Regarding the original post in this thread, the two examples given - 'Hub-caps' & 'Speed change lever' are both ambiguous.
Hub caps cap the hubs and are a cosmetic addition to tidy-up the appearance of the wheel affixing area, not something that holds the wheel to the axle (agree?) As for the 'Speed change lever - well, that could be all manner of things depending on where you were brought up.
My point is -as Cobras, and to some extent, ACs are known almost globally, I think that the prime driver should be clarity regarding what is actually being referred to. If the original AC term used by the factory is clear and unambiguous -fine, if not change it so that everyone knows what's being referred to.
I'm all for originality, but if it excludes 'non-locals' and knowingly confuses it should be avoided. Asterisks and a foot-note explaining what one's banging on about would be sensible for those who insist on using confusing/archaic terms?
We do live in a global world these days.

Keith, thanks for the answer. I suspected as much. I wonder, did Ian test the waters via social media, the forum, Action etc before trying to arrange the test day. It's a pain when people say they would be interested, but when it comes to committing - it's another thing entirely!
Shame, I was intending to go along to watch those unfamiliar with Quarry having fun. I once did 60+ laps in the pouring rain during a test day in my old MGB (the one that used to thrash all the MEs at the Goodwood sprint all those years ago!).
Similar to Gooders, and about the same distance from me.
Is this a reflection of the decline in AC owner's willingness to take to the track???

I thought Ace diffs didn't have any mounting bushes as the diff casing is part of the rear spring tower. Acecas, on the other hand, do. Brian Eacott should be able to help or point you in the right direction.
