That would be most kind of you. It has 6 days to run. I am more interested in it finding a good home, rather than lining my pockets

Ok, thought not, I'll relist it on ebay, then.

I have to agree with Keith. I can't see the point in reviewing a car with a non standard engine. The engine is the pumping heart of a car and to review one that has had a transplant is pointless.
And before anyone points it out, my Aceca was used in the 'Car SOS' programme for the driving shots and it has a Ford rather than the original AC.

Anyone?????????????????????????????

Dear All, some observations on the programme
I thought it was clearly stated that the engine was a Standard, ie basically the same as a Triumph TR2 etc.
   Weren't you paying attention!!!
I thought the work on the car was OK, but as for the running away from the trimmer and '...this is from the prototype Spitfire...' Obviously all staged. This episode is the only one I've watched, and that's the way it's going to stay.

Maybe they had to take this shallow approach to get the series budget? Both the presenter seem to me to be so much more human when off camera.
Finally, its a good job one can't look at both the shut-lines on the doors at the same time..
It was my blue Aceca on the programme

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Bristol gearbox Oil?
« on: September 25, 2015, 12:40:35 »
Tim, good info, however, I use Castrol Classic 80 in the Aceca which has overdrive. I was recommended this oil by an overdrive specialist.
The Ace is non O/D. Do you think that if the Bristol box was designed today, they would still recommend straight 30? I somehow think not, but if 30 works......

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Cleaning stone- chip from under wings

Keith, I didn't contact Aubrey because I'm well aware of all things 'mesh'. I like to hear recommendations form users. If I'd decided to go the mesh route I'd definitely have spoken to him but I think I'll go with Luke's method. Thanks Keith, and good to hear you got home form the International without undue hassle. See you at the sprint? Cheers, Glenn
Luke, That's the way, I think. as I've already got a reasonably good coating of some solidity, an extra coating or two of a flexible nature should do the job. I managed to buy 3 litres and an application gun for £25!!
   Many thanks, Glenn

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Weather etc. protection
« on: August 27, 2015, 13:29:33 »
Hi all, I'm trying to decide how to protect the underside of my front wings on the Ace and found this thread which answered a lot of my questions.
If I go down the mesh shield route I can copy the Aceca which has that sort of set up. I have already obtain 10mm closed cell foam and high temperature adhesive. My big concern with going down the foam route is removing the sprayed-on stone chip coating that has been on there for possibly decades and is now rock hard. It appears to be the stuff that many manufactures used to spray along sills. I need to get back to nice roughed up bare aluminium. I'm loathed to use a heat gun for fear of damage to the paintwork, and trying to soften it with a solvent would be messy beyond belief. I tried a test 'scrape' and I fear that I'd do more damage than any stone chip that I'm likely to come across!
Does anyone have any knowledge of the mesh guards that Keith mentioned above by Classic Autos?
Thanks for those who posted above for the useful info.
   Any suggestions?

Gentlemen and Terry who contacted me by email
Many, many thanks for the helpful advice.
Distributor all sorted via the Distibutor Doctor. I now know that there are 2 options for removing the gearbox, with or without the engine attached. Lastly, I'm still investigating the wheel rubbing situation and will post anthing that I think is of interest.
   Sorry about the rant.

So, 123 reads and nobody has replied?!?!?!? I thought forums were for exchanges of information from people with a similar interests? Now, I'm not bitter but it strikes me as strange that when the our beloved chairman pops a post on this forum it gets answered within the hour. I spent 8 years helping members with questions in my role as Aceca registrar. Some of the questions asked involved a lot of work to answer. What is it - the user name? or have I misunderstood the rules? Do I smell? Do I not send Christmas cards to the right people???? Is there some funny handshake I should learn? COME CHAPS/CHAPESSES, GIVE A BLOKE A HELPING HAND
