Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Re: 1957 AC Bristol for sale
« on: May 27, 2021, 15:17:33 »
Also offered here: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1341119

Yes I always do my homework but accidentally forgot to mention the chassis and engine:  1957 AC Ace-Bristol  BEX340 engine 100D 671

This is a beautiful car having inspected and photographed it myself.  I was just popping on the site to reduce the asking price.  I have three videos of the car for interested buyers:  A walk around, engine starting from cold and driving.

This AC Bristol is red with a new tan leather interior and a tan Hartz cloth top and side curtains. It has a fully rebuilt engine by Vilas motor works with 3 Solex carburetors, the carbs were rebuilt by Joe Cruto. It is fitted with a new custom aluminum radiator sourced in the UK with a 16” electric fan. It has a custom stainless steel grill guard and period Marchal headlamps. It sits on new Borrani wheels fitted with Pirelli Cinturato tires. This car was rallied on the California Mille with 0 problems or faults. It is fitted with disc brakes, overdrive, an oil cooler and a LeMans side exit exhaust. Although it is titled a 1958 the AC registrar has confirmed the car as matching numbers and leaving the factory at Thames Ditton on October 30, 1957. This beautiful AC Bristol has been in the same ownership for twelve years. Currently titled as a 1958 but can be corrected with new owner to 1957.

It is time to move this beauty on!  She needs to get out on the open road join those vintage car events!  She is dying to lounge under the shade of an elm at the local car show!

Contact Silverstone (if this is the same car you are referring to).  Tell them that you would like to contact the current owner and they should send your contact information to them.  I have done this with other auction houses when doing research on a particular car and they are usually pretty accommodating.  Not sure if the new owner will be but do give it a try.

This car has been sold.  If anyone wants to join my newsletter shoot me an email at kelly@exceptionalcarbroker.com  I represent all kinds of great cars from steam to sportscars.  Always something great to consider.

AC Ace, AEX 126 is available.  I sold it to this client five years ago and he has since gathered all the missing parts.
Seller would like $130,000.00 but will consider offers.   Car was first in CA and then went to Texas where it now resides.
Engine is 2262.  Has a clear Texas Title.  Seller will box for shipping.

The new parts in the car:
Shocks
Radiator
Front brake covers
Seat runners
Rear lights
All switches
Wiring loom
Brake cylinder kits
Brake pump
Clutch pump
Brake lines
Brake adjusters
Steering wheel
Steering hub
Might have forgotten some but everything included is in the pics.
All panels marked 126
clear TX title
Car delivered new to LA and has never left the area until current owner bought it. Has been in a garage the last 45 years, 5 of those in TX. The previous owner starter to convert it to a cobra 40 years ago but fortunately did not get very far.  Current owner gathered all of the correct parts over the last five years but does not have time for the project.
email: kelly@classictag.net for pictures of all of the parts.

I do not know how to put a link in the forum correctly but I just came across this Greyhound project from a private seller in France for 36,000 euro.

Thank you Jerry.  Now the client has all of his options clearly laid out:  Fix the engine he has.  Use a Ford engine.  Use a Weller engine and finally replace with another Ace engine.  Will keep the forum posted although he does move like molasses. They have had the car apart for about ten years.

Hi James.  Good to hear from you. That was a fun newsletter with some wonderful cars - both the real deal and replicas.
On another note the AC Bristol is a great car looking for a new home.  Matching numbers in the UK (LHD) spread the word to your friends.

Joop Stoltz has an AC Ace engine for sale.  I sent the link to my client. iI they decide the other engine can't be saved this will give them an option to keep a correct engine in the car.  Now they are armed with all of the possible options.

Thank you for your comments and e-mails.  I will forward this link along with the private e-mails from members with suggestions to my client.  I agree that he should save the original engine but as noted it can be a potential money pit if it is not in the hands of someone familiar with it.  At least now he has a better understanding of what his options are.

Thanks Robin.  I have your e-mail so I will be in touch.  In the meantime the post is to discuss options for enthusiasts finding themselves in the same predicament.  So your post offering another option is very helpful.
