Does anyone have for sale or know of someone that wants to part with a set of original magnesium Halibrand wheels for a 427? I know someone that's looking to buy.

General Forum / Aceca rebuild update
« on: March 28, 2007, 01:38:24 »
My car should be nearing completion in the next month or so. Ron Mack has been doing a great job on the interior paneling. Now that I have all the parts in from the UK the engine is ready to go together. The cylinder liners came out without any trouble. New Connecting rods from Robin Woolmer are fantastic. Excellent pieces of machined metal. Looks like they will fit fine. SU carbs will be back from rebuild this week and will be fitted with velocity intake stacks complete with genuine Tea-strainers!! What a great tip. It looks good and I'm sure will work well. I'm going to fit them on my 289 Webers as well. We had to do some modification on the steering rack supplied by Ben Yates, but it is in and will bolt right up to Nigel Winchester's disc conversion kit. Nice calipers, discs and fantastic caliper carrier. Nicely machined piece. I had the seats re-upholstered. there was no saving this hardened, stinking, cracked up leather with a paint job on it. The driver's seat will b a nice little race bucket. Ron made a fantastic dash out of aluminum sheet, like original with the original gauges mounted. The dash will be covered in red leather, as the seats and the gauge pods will be black wrinkle finish paint. Rod Briggs has a handy inventory of engine parts, such as springs and valves. Altogether this thing will be as good as new when it is all done.

I'm entered into the Carolina Trophy, recently covered in Octane magazine. It may not be a Zagato Aston Martin, but it will stand out!!
More to follow when the build it complete.

General Forum / Tyres for Ace/ Aceca
« on: March 26, 2007, 19:53:35 »
As my Aceca project is moving on and to the assembly stage I would like to ask the racers among you what tyres you're running. I have a set of brand new Dayton wires (15x5.5) to mount them on. The car originally had 16 inchers. The total circumference of the old wheels and tires was 27 inches. Some of the brands I've been looking at are 25 inches or even 24.5. Any suggestions? I don't want to have the thing look silly with the appearance of having mounted wheels off a Mini!!

   Thanks for the help.

I have been trying a few times to get into the members area to pull up some of the available articles, but after log in, the appearance of the Aceca at speed and selecting the model, nothing comes up. Can anyone tell me if I am missing a step?

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / aceca rubbers
« on: February 03, 2007, 20:59:07 »
Does anyone know of a source for the rubber strip that goes in the rain gutter on the Aceca and for the rear vent window seal? Any alternatives, used for other marques that work?
Any and all suggestions regarding the weatherstripping on the car is welcome.

General Forum / Owner's Photo compilation
« on: January 31, 2007, 02:19:56 »
While I am spending half of my day posting photos of my Aceca I thought it would be nice to have a thread where all active surfers and hopefully all owners can post a photo of their car or several. What a way to have a database of all owners and cars on the website. Do the registrars have any interest in this?

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Update on Aceca restoration
« on: January 30, 2007, 21:24:49 »
Just trying to upload a few photos. the car has been repainted. I had a Le Mans roller gas cap frenched in, roll bar mounted, I will have competition seat, reupholster the originals, fresh aluminum paneling, complete rebuild of engine with parts from Robin Woolmer, freshening of trans and rest of the drive line, steering conversion to rack and pinion from Ben Yates and front drum to disc conversion from Nigel Winchester.  Most of the work will be done in Spring Lake MI, by RP Mack motorsports. Ron built the engine for my 289 Kirham FIAand is a vintage racer himself with CSX 3106, his personal 427 with waay too much power!!This thing should be driving a lot better then it ever did!! Hopefully I will start testing by the end of march. I am signed up for racing school in the first week of May in the VSCDA. I also have entered into the Carolina Trophy, a vintage rally in north carolina, staged from the Biltmore estate...It's going to be a good year indeed!!!
Enjoyed the pictures from other owners, I like the photo hosting idea. many owners all over the world can help eachother by showing pictures of their projects.

Maybe a sensitive topic with you Brits, but I just really like the Ecurie Ecosse blue color! Does anyone know what paint supplier makes this color or better have a number from PPG or Dupont? I intend to spray my Aceca this color this winter.

General Forum / technical info, photo uploads
« on: October 27, 2006, 21:21:16 »
In one of the forum topics I read about availability under the "member" heading to obtain technical info posted by other memebers. I have been unable to open this up the way it was discribed. ( there should be a picture of an Aceca popping up...) Can anyone tell me how to get to this part of the ACOC wesite?

Also, is there a part top ACOC that allows uploads from members with photographs of their cars? Would be nice to check this out, get ideas from other owners and have maybe photo's posted by members of past events.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Aceca race prep.
« on: October 23, 2006, 15:41:10 »
As I am now taking apart my 59 Aceca (AEX674) in order to rebuild and race prep, I was wondering who has experience with the AC engine with regards to rebuild to race condition. Specifically who can supply parts and who has had successful application of such and wants to share his info with me. I am located in Michigan, USA. But sources in the UK would be of great help. Any info on increasing compression, changing pistons, Con rods, push rods, stronger crank shaft etc etc. Also any help in beefing up the 4 speed box, if nessesary. I would like to convert the fron drums to discs. My car was built before 59 but not titled until then, hence the drums instead of the discs that by that time had already become standard off the factory, if I am correct. I would like to change the bushings to a polyurethane kind. Does anyone know of availability of such? Are the bushings identical to the leafsprung 289 Cobra? And last, but not least: availability of steering boxes. Are they unique to the Aceca, or were they used in other British cars of the day? Or otherwise converting to rack and pinion?

Thank you so much for any help and info.

While I'm in the groove of posting.
I'd like to replace the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing of my 59 Aceca. Can anybody help me with parts. Who sells them? I did not have any luck with the original part numbers as published in my Aceca reproduction manual.

   Thanks,
