Horrible to see this pop up on Facebook earlier, I hope that the driver/passenger are okay and that repairs can be started ASAP!

General Forum / AC brass plate, what is it? footplate?
« on: April 22, 2021, 23:21:13 »
Over on that Facebooky thing, this photo of a brass plate was posted, and I wonder if anyone can identify it’s origin please?
Marked “ Coachwork by AC Cars Ltd. Surrey, Eng... “ It has clearly been chopped off for some repurposing, but I’m assuming it may have been a footplate or similar?

Looking forward to a flurry of photos showing how it should have looked, where, and on which vehicle it would be found!
Ta!

...Potential purchasers are advised to check this point...RS
I don’t think we need to worry too much about that...😆

Not so Nik, all welcome - everyone driving anything. Just have to enjoy using it, as not a few 289 Register members could confirm....
Barrie
Indeed! But a 75-mile radius? 😩  I’m glad Phil Riley and I weren’t driving an electric Cobra at the Rest And Be Thankful; we may have managed the day’s official activities, but would have run out of charge trying to follow you ‘the long way round’ back to Inveraray Castle in A98! 😱😆

...Funny and unreliable thing the human memory...
My lot keep laughing at my failing memory, but they won’t be laughing come Christmas when there are no eggs under the bonfire! 😂

...Surprising though the electric Cobra notion is I find it quite attractive - a silent run out in the countryside, the breakfast meeting - all the usual interesting car club stuff: Just so long as it is within a 75 mile radius......
Barrie
But you wouldn’t be allowed to the V8 Breakfast at The Fennel...🤣😂🤣

£600,000 PLUS VAT!
SO THATS SEVEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING!!! 😱😱😱

What planet are they on? 🤯

You could go out with that amount of cash and buy a genuine, 1960’s Thames Ditton-built AC289 that is in the REAL AC Bible...AND STILL HAVE ENOUGH CASH LEFT to get Gerry Hawkridge to supply you with an aluminium bodied, 289 V8-powered 1963 Le Mans replica!

And the chassis numbers... why not simply offer the “39PH” as the rhd and “645CGT” as the lhd variants, instead of:

Chassis numbers for the AC Cobra Le Mans electric 39PH:
COB 2131/1 right-hand drive or COX 2131/1 for left-hand drive To
COB 2131/6 right-hand drive or COX 2131/6 for left-hand drive

Chassis numbers for the AC Cobra Le Mans electric 645 CCT:
COB 2142/1 right-hand drive or COX 2142/1 for left-hand drive To
COB 2142/6 right-hand drive or COX 2142/6 for left-hand drive

😩

Wow.
People keep building walls, but you keep smashing through them!
So pleasing to see your progress, and a pile of bits starting to look like an Aceca again!

Still keeping my fingers crossed for you that they will ‘get wise’.
Black makes them look quite austere, but I hope the ol’ girl gets saved!
