Gus,
   Found this on the the US EPA site - pretty clear so should be no problem [:)]

   2.2.5 Temporary Vehicle Imports for Nonresidents

   Motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment for personal use may be imported for up to one year.
   The vehicle must be imported in connection with your arrival, and it must be owned by you or on order before you depart from abroad. Only individual nonresidents may import a vehicle through a nonresident exemption. There is no Customs bond required, however, EPA requires that written approval must be obtained prior to importation.
   Requirements:

   œ Importer must file with U. S. Customs, upon entry, an EPA Form 3520-1 declaring code "O;" and attach the EPA letter of exemption.
   œ Importer should keep a copy of the EPA approval letter for future proof of EPA exclusion.
   Restrictions:
   œ Importer must be a nonresident;
   œ Vehicle may not be sold or otherwise transferred to another party in the U.S.;
   œ Vehicle must be used primarily for personal use by the importer while in the U.S.;
   œ Use of this exemption is prohibited if the vehicle is to be used primarily to conduct business, or for principle use by persons other than the importer (or spouse of the importer); and
   œ Vehicle must be exported after one year, or upon the nonresident departing the U.S.,
   whichever comes first.

US CUSTOMS ENTRY

   Gus,
   have just checked with a shipping firm in the UK (£2100 one way from Manchester UK to LA) who tell me that temporary importation of cars into the USA requires a "Carnet de Passage" and a bond posting to the value of up to 50% of the vehicle.This is done through the RAC in this country who will then complete the customs ducumentation.
   I think this could be a stopper and should clearly be investegated further before we all get too excited.
   Mike

Come on guys lighten up, [:)] didn't it look good in the mud with the rest of us.......and as for value how much was that Aston - £1.27M for a new car... also in the mud with the rest of us!
   If you have that sort of money to spend on a car then you should be smart enough to establish for yourself whether the pedigree satisfies your own needs and standards. After all you are going to own it and drive it and at the end of the day you may never go to an AC meeting where the tutting finger of damnation will be pointed. After all were there not 2 fibreglass replicas on the Club pitch at Donnington? [:0]

Too late Nik I've already had the op, checked the Registry and bought a new car cover. [:)]

Contact Gerry Hawkridge at Hawk cars, he made mine and it kept us as dry as possible on the way back from Lemans. Cant do more than 70 with it up but boy did all those brave  Caterhams, Morgans, Cobra and C type replicas take a bath on the way home without a hood.[:)]

Thanks Mark,
   Just had the conversation re Angliss and Lubinski models.....the usual problem for me of form over function as I prefer the look of the later cars. I shall wait to see what turns up at Stonor hopefully at least one of each)before making a decision.

Thanks for the info David, no one wrote like LJK, I wonder how many cars from all manufacturers sold entirely on his wonderful prose?
   Is there any maked difference between the manual and auto models ?

Keith - Good to meet you at last, thanks for a great "Classic" week-end. Fabulous AC Dinner/Venue/route book etc(was every route book slightly different? we kept meeting groups of ACs comming from other directions?)
   Another vote of thanks for all your hard work [:)]

   Few more images from a damp Saturday.

Nik - don't you just love the "Shelby" association in the catalogue description  (great for search engine crawlers) but does it run and is it another prototype with a £30k reserve like the ebay Heritage Aceca.
   The previous comment re the Bentley driving family yet again illustrates the added value of classic cars as investment vehicles for the purposes of Inheritance Tax. (Passing on valuable cars has become as tax efficient as passing on farms) [:)]

Nice dream, only works if you have entry level cars available on the market at around the £25 - £30k mark.
   It also calls for a better acceptance of later AC products ie Mk IVs, CRS , MEs and Ace "Brooklands" none of which is as readily available as entry level Bentleys/Ferraris/Astons etc.
   Also requires some form of "associate" membership for selected continuation models (Shelbys, Kirkhams, Hawks etc) which could conceivably come into reach of younger members.
   At the present rate of climb cars sold at these levels will be in permanent storage loaned out for static display and the next tranche of owners will be so far removed from regional club meets and muddy fields that a new club "The AC Enthusiasts Club" will be formed. [:)]

Yes, appalling weather but a good turn out - first time its been out in the rain![:0] thought I would try the new mohair hood in preparation for the classic Lemans trip. Maybe it's roasting on the other side of the Channel but we've got a four hour trip to get down to Portsmouth and would rather not have a soaked navigator in the cabin overnight! [;)]
   The only drawback being lack of space in the boot for party clothes especially as Keith wants us to dress a l'epoque.[8D]

   PS Gerry Hawkridge and his trimmer made a super job of it and the side curtains.

Great to see another CRS in the club, as the last of the line its quite surprising how much interest they generate at events. (offsets all the thumbs up and toots from the Dax brigade [;)])
