Hi also Jeffrey and happy new year again. lots looks a little different on this car such as the switch panel, the switches are not the usual ones especially not for the electric windows, but it is a very early car and a very early LHD so probably has a few unique features as AC were continuously 'developing' with each one built. I think the early metallic green was darker than this, but I'm assuming a customer could choose any colour they liked provided they could give AC the name or code. No doubt Siegfried will want to strip and repaint the car so he will eventually be able to tell anyone interested a lot more

Hi Emmanuel, Happy New Year ! Looks like Siegfried made a great discovery. I doubt if the colour is original as it just doesn't go well with the seats and door panel colour ( assuming they are the originals ! ). The heater centre console may not be pushed forward enough ( notice the heater controls look too recessed ) so maybe this gives the illusion of the shifter being too far forward. My manual gearbox car had a cranked back shifter but was a later car. All the earlier cars seem to have had a 'ribbed' carpet in a charcoal colour so it may well still be the original carpet in this car ( it always seemed to be the same colour carpet regardless of the leather colour so I'm guessing AC had a lot of rolls of the same colour ! ). I agree it looks like the bezels around the side vents are missing, and I like the Frua badges behind the fuel tank doors, does anyone else own a Frua with these fitted instead of AC badges?

LOL probably depends on your definition of a 'private' sale. The car is being sold from a large privately owned collection of cars, but they probably own far more cars by quantity than any trading Motor Dealer ! As you can see from their website some of their collection are available for hire or promotion as a way to make sure the cars are used and perhaps recoup some partial running costs, but to be fair the cars are probably mostly owned for investment and pleasure. I do not think the owners specifically buy cars for resale so I guess it qualifies as a 'private sale'.

lol I've actually got a Jensen SP, but for the AC I preferred the original rear end, really it's just the rear window that needed to come down lower to balance the look and improve rear visibility, but that would have resulted in a tiny boot opening which would have been no use

Sold at the auction for what I believe is a world record price for a Fastback, £ 136,400. Perhaps because it's a very rare original manual car, but interestingly wasn't sold from the Car and Classic website where the owner indicated to me that he would probably have accepted an offer close to £ 100,000, so he will be extremely pleased with the auction result ! Wish I could have afforded to keep it from the early 1980's !

Interesting John, If the PCD of 4.25 inches is correct then the correct metric equivalent is actually 5 x 108 which widens the range of hubs the wheels would also fit. The wheels have reached reserve now on E-Bay

Thanks Terry, I didn't have the ME forum on my PC because I usually only use the 428 Frua forum, so I'll find it and add it to my favourites, best regards

You can't see in the picture clearly but all 4 wheels have been overstamped with a 7 on top of the 6, must have been an error at the Revolution factory

Thanks I guessed the suspension was bespoke but I was hoping the hubs were borrowed. I also estimated 5 x 110 but will try and get exact measurements tomorrow.

Yes it is Emmanuel, has been mentioned and talked about quite recently on this forum. Colour has changed twice since I sold it early 1980's. I know the seller quite well.

Price has jumped $ 45000 since it's August listing on E-Bay ! Still at least somebody has spent some money on buying and fitting front bumpers and they make a big difference to the overall appearance. Panel fit may have been adjusted slightly but I doubt if anything else underneath has been much improved for the price hike.

Personally I like the beefier later U-shaped shifter, fan looks a bit too big but I guess it's efficient apart from sapping some power as it's driven off the pulley I assume? Obviously the ducting added for the carburettor is intended to feed cold air from the grill. I think I'd put the car back to twin electric fans as I like the look.

I thought you wanted a fastback to refurbish as well Emmanuel ? ;) Looks fairly unmolested except for a few minor upgrades such as the tail pipes and the fascinating carburettor air intake. Interesting to see the panels look completely original, and did you see there is more of a curve on the original sills/rockers ? I've never seen an early car with a T-shift except the earliest road test cars.
